What is the best time to go to the show? We are going to do a dinner package, if they ever come out, but I'm not sure which show I would prefer. I like the idea of the 5PM show and then we could eat dinner at a decent time, but is it the same show when the sun is still up? And then what about the 6:45 show? Dinner must be awfully early. The 8:15 would work nicely, but it is getting a bit late for the kids. Help!

I prefer the first show of the night because for the other two shows you can hear the show while waiting in line. JMO

We have always did the last show and dinner around 5:30. We just did it again this Dec. and our son was 3 he fell asleep half way through it. But it was along day for us, we just got to Disney the same day so he was up since early and in the park early because we couldn't check in. The shows are the same no matter what time you go. I like the later one since it is dark out and everything is lighted by candles. We did dinner at LeCellar and then went to England to see Characters and play at the train table, then had just enough time to get in line for the show.

We did the 8 p.m. If I could do over, I would do the show then dinner. We had dinner at Garden Grill with a 5:30 ADR, it took us over 2 hours to complete our meal due to the extremely packed restaurant and slow service (I think our waiter was swamped, he himself didn't seem slow). We didn't even finish our desserts, didn't have time.

Anyway, we jogged all the way to the show and just barely made it. Next time I would go early and eat later.

I HIGHLY recommend a nighttime show (not the 5pm). It's just not as moving when the choir streams in from the back holding candles. As for hearing the show while you wait in line, we've never had that problem because we've never stood in line for over an hour.

We prefer to do the show first and then dinner afterwards. On our last trip this past December, we did the CP twice, both times going to the 6:45 show and then having dinner afterwards. Our ADRs were for 8ish, but in both cases we had to wait a bit (which worked out really well for Rose and Crown as we were still there when Illuminations started).

We always go to the 5pm show. Remember the sun sets much earlier in December, so sunset takes place during the show, which is pretty neat.

I also agree with the previous poster who mentioned that you can hear the whole show while waiting in line if you choose any of the later performances. That would ruin it for me.
