Candlelight Processional narrator questions??

Blair Underwood was just added for. Dec. 5.6.7 Trying to decide between him and Andy Garcia while we're there.

Sorry, where do you see this information for Blair Underwood?

I've been checking http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/epcot/special-events/candlelight-processional/ just about daily and it still lists TBA for me for those dates. Might be a browser issue so I'm curious where you saw Underwood announced. Thanks!

Edit: NVM. I see multiple places reporting this. Why would I ever think Disney's site is the place to check for news? Sigh.

Well now...that would be interesting, to say the least. I've heard a lot of narrators...the worst for me??? Phil Donahue. He actually forgot various passages...kind of made the next song out of context!!! It happened a few times..so maybe he needed new glasses or something. But when you've seen the show multiple times you know when something is passed over.
I've had people I didn't think I would care for..but I did. David Ogden Stiers was one...man, he was really good. Neil Patrick Harris was incredible. Heather Headley, played Nala on Broadway, was to die for....simply unbelievable.
You just can never tell. We've seen others who we had looked forward to, and they were kinda blah.

It's funny you say that about Phil Donahue. I was just talking to my daughter this morning about how he could not pronounce Bible towns and it seemed he was reading it for the first time ever.

I was jumping up and down when I saw that Trace Adkins was narrarating while I'm there! Love his speaking and singing voice, not to mention a few other nice "assets".:yay: Hmm, I guess that wasn't appropriate of me to say during a discussion of the Candlelight Processional, LOL! Can't help it though! Can not wait!:dance3:

Has anyone heard Andy Garcia narrate? I'm not familiar with him (though I'm sure I must have seen him in a movie at one point), but we're booked for one of his nights.

Andy Garcia was absolutely wonderful. I fell in love with him after seeing him narrate the CP. I wasn't familiar with him at all before.

Now, everytime my husband sees one of his movies on, he says "Your boyfriend's on!". :rotfl:

We have seen many CP's throughout the years and Andy Garcia and Gary Sinise are 2 of my favorite narrators.

Jodi Benson is the narrator the night that we have reservations this year. I'm really looking forward to seeing her.

We'll be attending when Andy narrates. I'm excited about him because he has a great speaking voice. He starred in Ocean's Eleven as Terry Benedict, the casino owner and Julia Robert's boyfriend. He also appeared in When a Man Loves a Woman, The Untouchables and The Godfather Part III...

This will be my first year down there to see this, I would really like to see NPH narrate the CP but we are not doing the meal/package, going stand-by. Any suggestions for which show time might be easier to see? Do you have a good chance of actually seeing it? I don't want to spend all night in line to get turned away (by going stand-by)? There will be 6 of us.

Thank you for this!! He's secretly my boyfriend also!

In answer to the OP's original question, they can add, subtract, and make changes right up to the last minute. So you might book a certain night because of a certain narrator, and then for whatever reason (for example, death in the family) the narrator is replaced.

It's fine to book anticipating a particular person so long as you remember that there is always the possibility of change up until you are seated in the theater and the show starts.

NPH will sell out all of his shows. People will be getting in the stand-by line early afternoon for him and will be willing to wait hours... and I mean hours! He is the single most popular narrator.

Oh, wonderful! Thank you so much for telling me this.

I'm really looking forward to having a narrator with a great speaking voice. We've done the Candlelight Processional twice now, and both times the music was gorgeous and the speaker was... a little disappointing. Andie Macdowell kept mucking up her lines and mispronouncing things and Isabella Rossellini was okay but somewhat hard to hear.

I keep missing Neil Patrick Harris! But I now I can look forward to Andy Garcia, so I'm happy. :yay: I love a great male speaking voice. It's one of the reasons I agreed to go out with my husband, some 20 years ago now (he used to be a DJ).

We got in line at 2:30 for the 5:00 show. And we were about the 15th group in line. We got in, but were in the very last row. But NPH was worth it!!! :lovestruc

Last year I was booked to see Whoopi Goldberg and was so excited. Then she cancelled due to a 'scheduling' conflict. :rolleyes2 I was very disappointed and almost cancelled, but decided to keep it to see who she was replaced with. Well, it was Geena Davis, another oscar winner, so I kept it and thoroughly enjoyed her. :thumbsup2

While it is fun to have a narrator you find interesting, the Candlelight Processional itself is incredible. That being said, I'm still torn that I changed my upcoming plans and will miss out on NPH. Guess I need to listen to my own advice. ;)

They can be filled up to a couple of weeks in advance. I have gone once or twice where they were still TBD about three weeks before I left.

Also, one year John Tesh's first night, they had to get a substitute, because he was stuck in a really bad snowstorm in Canada. I had planned to go that night and went anyway.

It ended up being Edward James Olmos, since I think he lives locally, and he was superb. I ended up going back the next night and saw John Tesh and it was also very, very good.

I have also seen Rita Moreno and Phylicia Rashad.

My hands down favorite was my first year in 2000; it was the last time Roy Disney opened the CP on the first night. I am so glad I got to see it!
