I'm looking for some info on the Candlelight Processional Dinner Packages.

Would really like to know how much it might be, if it is worth it, and where are my dining options?

Thankyou so much in advance!:goodvibes

PS- I did do a search and came back with 0 results. :upsidedow

Melody,

I think that Maryjo has done this.. try pm'ing her and asking.

I'd be interested in learning about this event too. :goodvibes

We did the dining package in 2006 at the Storyteller's Cafe at DGC. I can't remember the exact cost (maybe $50 pp that year but it has gone up since then). The dinner included an appetizer, choice of 4 entrees, desert and a nonalcoholic beverage. We had excellant seats in the 2nd or third row front and center.

What I remember the most was the nightmare of getting a reservation. It was booked online the first Sunday of November and the Disney computers crashed as I was entering your CC info, so I tried a couple more times and each time it creashed when my CC info was submitted. Ultimately, they shut down the site, then contacted some lucky guests (including us) by e-mail to confirm the reservation and take our CC info, then opened up the reservations again a week or so later.

Even with all the hassles and the price increase (I think Storytellers went to $75 pp in 2007), we would have booked it again in 2007 except I couldn't make a reservation. This time, by the time I got to the screen to enter my CC info, it said my choice of restuarant and time was sold out and to try for another choice. After an hour of not being able to finalize a single reservation, I got the message that all of packages were sold out. We went anyway as it was too late to cancel for family that already had plane tickets (the reservations for the CP lackage weren't made available until about 10 days prior to the event) and enjoyed ourselves at the show even with standing room only.

I can't tell you how it went in 2008 as my DH and I went to WDW where the CP dining packages are made available the summer prior to the events. One phone call (not even made at the crack of dawn) and we booked our preferred restaurant for our preferred date and time.

We are heading back to DL again this year for the CP, so we are hoping that they have fixed all their computer issues. Based on the bookings for the D23 events, I am not counting on it. Wish us luck!

Best of luck if you decide to book -- Suzanne

I am really interested in doing this also! When do they usually release information (prices/times) about the Dining Packages? And does anyone know if AP holders have any priority on getting reservations?

Good question! Subscribing to thread!

Thankyou all for this information so far.:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I'd also be interested in finding out the exact time and day to reserve, as it sounds like they go fast!!! :upsidedow

In the past APs have not had booking priority it is everyone at the same time. The date to book a package is very close to the date of the event. The event is almost always the first Sat and Sun in Dec, but every once in a while due to scheduling it has been on the second weekend, so it is hard to plan for until you know the exact weekend. I know a lot of people have been very frustrated with the online ordering system, because so many people try to book at once the computers get overloaded. But I feel that we are lucky they are doing the dining packages, so people can plan ahead. Years ago they didn't do this, if they had any tickets left over after giving them to the sponsors, choir people, vips, etc they would give the tickets away the day of the perfomance and you would have to line up very early in the morning for a chance to get them.

Very spendy indeed. Am I expected to buy my 2 yr old a dining package as well?

Thanks for the link!:goodvibes

Kind of pricey! Especially if I want to treat my children and their spouses too!

One thing I did not realize, is that they have 2 shows a night? Am I reading that right? I wonder what the times are?

The shows are at 5:30 and 8:00 P.M. A lot of people don't like the fact that the meals are before the shows, so for the 5:30 show, you are eating really early.....in late afternoon. We saw the show last year without buying dining tickets. We arrived at the end of the first show and sat down on the wall outside City Hall and stayed there until the 2nd show. They had the steps and most of the area roped off, but the area nearest the entrance wasn't roped off, so we were able to sit there. We could only see the stage from the side, but it was worth it for us. They were letting people stand inside a roped off area near the stage, but I couldn't stand for long due to a sprained ankle. They also let people without dining tickets sit in some of the seats towards the back, but you have to stand in line way ahead of time in order to get a seat in that area. By the time we got there during the end of the first show, the standby area for seating for the second show was already filled. I didn't have any little children with me, so it was easier to find a spot for just myself and DS, 13. It was absolutely beautiful and I'm so glad that we were able to see it.
