How do the CP show times correlate with the dining package? I want the first or second show with an early dinner, but every one I have tried to book online is giving me the 8:15 PM show which is late for our kids. Do you have to get 8:15 if you are booking dinner, even if it is a 4:30 dinner and I will have to book lunch? If it matters, I was trying R&C which is my first choice, but also tried Biergarten and tried times from 4:20-5:30 or so. Can I call and get an earlier time? I just hate calling when I can sit and do it online. I guess I obviously can't get the first show with dinner now that I think about it, but what about the second?

Yes, I do believe you can call...but online I just got a 12:30 Biergarten (1st CP show). After booking I tried booking the same thing (12:30 Biergarten)..the system prompted me to cancel the conflicting ADR...then the 2nd time I got the 2nd CP show...so maybe it is randomly cycling through show times?

I've tried a variety of lunch times and dinner times at a few different restaurants, and for all but one got the 8:15 show. I guess I will have to call, but now I can't decide where i want to eat! We always eat at R&C, but I thought we could try something different but can't decide. We tend to be creatures of habit, I don't want to pick something and have my DH and kids wish we had just eaten at the R&C.

I got Tutto Italia online on Thursday for 1pm for the 5pm show. I honestly have no idea, but I made that after my parents made one for 1pm at San Angel Inn for the 5pm showing on the same day. Calling in they couldn't get Italy, but online I could.

even if it is a 4:30 dinner

A 4:30 dinner is too late even for the 6:45 show. If the restaurant is running late at all, you may not be finished eating in time to line up for the 6:45 show. You will want to be in that line no later than 6:15 and 6:00 is better. They open up the standby line around 30 min before show time, and if you're not in the pkg line, you risk not getting a seat. That's why the system won't let you do anything other than the 8:15.

If you want the 5:00 or 6:45 show, you need to eat lunch or mid-afternoon time frame.

last year we ate at the GG at 4:15 for the 6:45 show, which I think was considered a lunch. I agree i don't want to cut it too close, but I was looking to do just about the same timing again. I know having it work out once doesn't guarantee the future, but we had tons of time to get there after eating last year, and we were down in future world.

Then try for a 4:00 or 4:15. I just don't think the system will let a 4:30 do anything other than the 8:15. It may only be 15 min, but it could mean 30-45 min difference in when you finish eating.

I've tried Rose and Crown for lunch and dinner, and every time it gives me the 8:15 PM show. I guess I'm just going to have to call, I just thought there might be a method to their madness or a way to get a different time. I know last year I read on here that if you just keep choosing the time you want at the restaurant the CP times will change with each attempt, and it worked. But this year I can choose as many times as i want in a row and always hit cancel and start again and it's still 8:15. The joke is that I could have just called and tried to book it and even if I had had a decent wait time on the phone it would have taken a lot less time than my online attempts and posting to this thread took! :rotfl2:Can you tell how much I prefer the impersonal computer booking rather than calling and talking to someone? I don't even know why, when I call I always end up having a perfectly fine experience :confused3 I guess I'm antisocial

the rule of thumb is it has to be 2.5 hours before. I have a 4:15 la hacienda for a 6:45 show - that was the latest I could do. I plan to show up early for the ADR.
