We are going to be at WDW during the holidays. What is the candlelight procession and is it not to be missed. Any thoughts?

I skipped this when my kids were young, like 3 and 5, but now I think that they would have enjoyed it. We went last year, they were 11 and 13. We all loved it.

It's a telling of the Christmas story with a full orchestra and choir. They have a celebrity guest narrator tell the story. We saw Marlee Matlin tell the story. She's deaf, so she signed it and her translator (?), Jim _____, spoke it for her. Awesome!

The show is about 40 minutes long. There are a couple of shows a night, every night during the season. The guest narrators change every three days or so.

My family thought it was "OK" but don't let that influence your decision to see it or not. One thing to try - stand outside the theatre for an early performance and determine for yourself.

This is an excellant show, not to be missed, and as the OP'er says its the Christmas story, narratored by a guest speaker, with orchestra and choir.

We love it and generally go twice during our stay. It is definitely a "not-to-missed" attraction for us.

My sister and I did our first (soon to be more, I'm sure!) Disney Christmas trip this past December. I was kind of the wet blanket about the Candlelight Processional. I figured we hear the Christmas story and sing all the great Christmas carol in church. I wanted to do "DISNEY" things while I was there. WRONGO! While my sister shopped in one of the coutnries, I strolled down and listened to part of the Processional. It was beautiful!! I so wish now that we had decided to it. Well, there's always next time!! :earsgirl:

Have a wonderful time!!

Thanks for the feedback. Based on the posts here and others I have read I think we will book a dinner package as soon as they come out.

where do they host the CPP? Is it far from Canada where I have my my reservations? How long is the regular line VS the package wait? I want to try to see the santa's in the countries before the CPP and am planning to arrive by 5 pm for the 6:15 or 6:45 show (whenever it starts). i will get the CPP if it is 1 credit but not if it is 2. I will then be waiting in the stand-by line. My ADR is not unitl 8:15 and it should give me time to see illuminations after dinner. I only have 2 things i want to do in Epcot that are not in WS, I want to ride Soarin' and want to visit Ice Station Cool.

This is my favorite and must-do thing to do at EPCOT during the holidays. It is the story of Christmas read by a guest speaker, with a full orchestra and chorus. This is held at the America Gardens Theater across from the American Adventure pavilion. There are 3 shows per day at 5pm, 6:45pm & 8:15pm. I'd recommend attending either the 6:45pm or 8:15pm, as it is dark enough by then to really enjoy all the lights in the show. I always do a CP dinner package, as this allows you to have a ticket to that show, plus dinner. There is a separate line for dinner packages and no dinner packages. The line for the non-dinner package starts early and can get pretty long. I usually arrive at the dinner package line about 40 minutes prior to the show, as this gets me closer to the front and allows me to grab a great seat. Also, make sure to try and get a seat under the overhang if it looks like it may rain. This show will go on rain or shine.

Below is a link to Deb Will's site that has alot of details regarding the show and dinner packages.
