I'm working on planning our first trip to WDW during the holidays and was wondering how the package worked....

Do you have to do dinner first or after the show?
Where do you get you tickets?
Just how does the whole thing generaly work?
What timing for dinner and what show would you recomend?

Oh one more...
I saw The Garden Grill was a choice for dinner. Isn't that a character meal?

Thanks for any info!!!

We've done the Candlelight Processional package three times, and I definitely feel that its the best way to go, especially if you were going to eat at a World Showcase restaurant anyway!

Once it gets a little closer, (and you'll see it posted here on the Disboards), they'll have three restaurant tiers for you to choose from, in three different price ranges. It depends on which restaurant you choose as to the price you pay. Dinner includes a soup or salad, entree, and dessert. (It used to include a soft drink, but I don't remember if it still includes the soft drink. It also used to include a 15 percent shopping discount on the day of your CP, but they discontinued that). You call Disney Dining to book.

There are three show times - 5:00, 6:45, and 8:15, I think. When you call to book your package, you can talk with the CM and you let them know which show you would like to attend, and if you would like to eat before or after your show. It will be noted on your PS that you are on a "CP Dinner Pkg".

We've always made a PS for around 6:15 PM, and did the 8:15 show after. That gives us plenty of time for an unhurried meal, and we can casually stroll over for the show. The 8:15 show lets out in time for Illuminations!!!

Yes, the Garden Grill is a character meal. Although we've eaten at Garden Grill before, for our CP package, we've eaten at LeCellier twice, and Chefs de France once. This year, we'll either be back at LeCellier or we might try Morocco. (I'm thinking about doing Morocco for lunch, and LeCellier for dinner!!)

Enjoy your dinner & show!!!!

Definately the way to go, as it guarantees you entrance and a seat into the theatre. If you go without the package..you can take your chances..people line up long before the show starts to get the extra seats..otherwise..you can stand outside the theatre.

Just keep in mind..on show night..the restaurants are very busy. Allow plenty of extra time. We had a 45 minute wait last time we went..had to rush a bit through dinner and just made it to the show on time..and I mean just made it...jeesh. You can have dinner before or after the show..your choice. You usually pick up your tickets at your resort..or at a designated area inside EPCOT the day of the show.

Definately get your ps for dinner at least 2 hours before whatever showtime you chose.

We've done it both ways and prefer to have dinner after. The last 2 years we saw the 6:45 show and had LeCellier dinner at 8:00. That way you can just enjoy your dinner and not worry about the time. We were staying at BWV, so we had them box the leftovers and the desserts and took it back to the room (we had a fridge). We got out of the restaurant shortly before Illuminations (9:30), we weren't planning on seeing it so we got out of the park before the crowds.
