I swear I think I suffer from Candida Albicans. Does anyone else and how are you treating it???

I'm hoping to avoid a yeast infection. I am being treated with antibiotics for 3 weeks due to lyme disease. My MD gave me another medication to prevent me from getting a yeast infection. I'm almost done with the lyme medications so hopefully the other is working and I won't get that dreadful yeast infection. I take the last yeast pill 4 days after I take the last antibiotic.

No yeast infections....it's in my GI track

I took a liquid medicine for yeast...nystatin. Have you tried that yet? I suffered from horrible you can't kill it yeast infections. I had to take the liquid nystantin..didn't help. I ended up with boric acid suppository which was the only thing that worked for me.

Wow I am on antibiotic as well for Lyme disease. Hope you are doing well.

I am on high dose of antibiotics and I take 2 different types of probiotics as well as olive leaf extract and coconut oil too. My doc also suggested keeping organic coconut oil and organic honey on hand just in cause I were to have any issues downstairs. So far so good knock on wood no Candida!

Cut way down on sugar (carbs). Candida THRIVEs on sugars. That's why many diabetic get problematic overgrowth systemically when their blood sugar isn't under control.

And for the antibiotics, I don't understand how that can help since Candida Albicans is a fungus and not a bacteria. :confused3

I agree. Antibiotics often indirectly cause yeast infections by killing off the beneficial flora in the gut. :confused3

OP, what is it that is making you think you have Candida? Just curious what symptoms you have noticed.

You can do quite a bit for candida by controlling your diet, staying away from sugars, quick carbs, and certain other foods that can contribute (including milk and beef, due to steroids and antibiotics present). I bought a homeopathic treatment for Candida a few years back, and my daughter found it helpful. Last week she had a doctor's appt., and the doctor discussed a medication with her (don't know what though) that he said would take care of it very quickly. She was intrigued, but is breastfeeding and there was no data available for effects on nursing infants so she has decided to put that particular treatment on hold. I'd discuss it with your doctor and see what he/she recommends.

.

Yes, I would know what symtoms people are having with this? My son is on the Autism spectrum and I am just starting to research this GI possibility. He gets bad eczyma that comes and goes.

Looking for a holistic approach. Are there side effects to the meds?

My symptoms are constant cravings for sugar, and carbs. Tired all the time, lack of interest in things, loss of libido, trouble concentrating, dizzy spells, constipation, nausea, irritable.
Classic symptoms of Candida. I just do not think it will be humanly possible to avoid all sugar. I am addicted!

Are you serious or joking? Those symptoms could be anything.

I am completely serious! Been suffering with these symptoms and GI symptoms for years and no doctor can diagnose me. Tired of feeling sick all the time. I am willing to bet that I have a yeast overgrowth in my gut so thats why I was posting this topic. Curious to see how many out there also have this and if they have been diagnosed and treated. Not looking to start any debates or arguments here. Just looking for feedback. :goodvibes
