Cancun Allinclusive Family Resort

We just booked Riu Jalisco in Nuevo Vallarta which is about 20 minutes from Puerto Vallarta. I searched forever and Puerto Vallarta ended up being a lot cheaper than Cancun and Riveria Maya.

For those looking for deals, there are a lot of resorts where kids stay & eat free. All you have to pay for is their airfare.

Last March, we went to Jamaica & paid $1,800 total for the 3 of us. This included everything, direct flights, all inclusive, 7 nights, taxes, transfers, etc. We booked through Doylestown travel which is a booking agent of Apple Vacations. You get 10% off the Apple package price for booking through Doylestown.

We are leaving for Riu Jalisdo on Feb 23rd for 7 nights. $2,185 for the 3 of us, 7 nights, direct flights, all inclusive, taxes, transfers, etc. I booked this vacation through cheapcaribbean.com.

The best place to start for me was Apple Vacations. You can click on their Collections and select Family and you can see a lot of the family resorts where kids stay free. Then compare Apples prices to all the travel websites, travelocity, orbitz, funjet, cheapcaribbean, etc. Also, google for codes. I ended up finding $55 off cheapcaribbean by googling for a code.

Also, tripadvisor.com is a great place to read reviews, ask questions in the forum, see traveler's pictures, etc.

Have fun!

ETA: If you travel mid-week to mid-week, it is cheaper than Saturday to Saturday. If you are flexible with your dates, you can find great deals. Also, if you don't mind booking last minute, you can find great deals. We just booked our Feb 23rd vacation last weekend! We knew we wanted to go that week and just waited for last minute deals.

1) We stayed at Club Las Velas.
2) Except for insurance on ski-doos, we paid for NOTHING on-site.
3) We thought Zorro was about to swing through the courtyard.
4) It was that Spanish/Mexican in design.

we stayed at the crown paradise Great for kids...and the adults had a blast as well...we paid $750 pp with flight last Jan...we also went to sunscape tulum which is now dreams tulum.....nice for ds because he was just over 1 yr old...we leave in a week this year for jamaica cant wait...try bookit.com for prices they seem to have great prices.

If I can ask, why do you say "don't do cancun with a family"? We're also looking for this summer, but ds (15) wants to go fishing but I don't think we could afford one of those boat trips for him to fish. So is there anyplace on the island or beach he can fish?

Sorry, what I should of said was that in my opinion, Playa or one of the nicer resorts outside of Cancun is a better fit for a family. I just feel that Cancun is more touristy with hotel after hotel and more of a party atmosphere. That's all. It's still lovely, but I WAY prefer something outside of Cancun.

We have stayed in Playa Del Carmen...about 30 minutes south of Cancun, which is a much better area than Cancun for families. We stayed at the Iberostar Tucan and it was great. This year we are staying at the Sandos Playacar, which is next to Iberostar. It also has good reviews and was a lot less $. We didn't think we would like the all-inclusive concept, but we all loved it!

I have also stayed at Iberostar..Queztal which is combined with Tucan. Very nice! I'd stay there again...it looks like we are doing Mexico AI this year again as DH likes to go with his family..so..we may look into the others mentioned.

We have also stayed at the Iberostar Tucan. We booked through Expedia and were not disappointed. The grounds are very well kept and there is plenty to do. Lots of food options, we especially enjoyed the steak house. Very kid friendly and easy to navigate. The pool is HUGE! I would definetly go back.

We stayed at RIU Caribe in Cancun, booked thru Expedia, we had a BLAST, LOVED it there and met some great friends also. Food was good, drinks were EXCELLENT, beach and water was gorgeous and pool was fun! We went last August and got a great deal since the Swine Flu had hit!

Thanks for all the replies. Will be looking at all the resorts suggested and price them for our family, 2 adults and a just turning 13 DD right before our travel dates. Keep them coming!!!:yay:

We stayed here as well and had a wonderful time! We did not take kids with us though.

We stayed at the Azul Sensatori - very nice in that they had rooms designed for families (I think they'd sleep five if your kids don't mind sharing a pullout) (there was a "door" between our bed and the kids). Food was very good, pool lovely. Its a smaller resort than many of them. But its a more expensive option than many.

WOW, I am getting over $7000 for a family of 4 out of CLT with flights.

What month did you book? That is room only correct?

That price includes the flights. We are flying out of Newark 6/21, returning the 28th. We are booked at the Palace, so we have access to all amenities across the resort.

The resort has a deal for certain dates (we looked at June & July ) where with 2 paying adults, up to 2 kids 12 & under stay free. So in the end, I only paid for airfare for DD12 & DS11.

We booked through Orbitz. There was also a coupon code of "200entertain" that took $200 off the package price.

Hope that helps!!
