Paul we had a booking for accomodation and tickets, we then decided we just wanted to get the tickets and stay DVC. I phoned Disney and they cancelled my first booking and I paid for my tickets in full plus a £25 ammendment fee. After a few weeks we realised that Disney were offering free dining in Dec when we are going so I then changed our res. again. This time I booked OKW with the free dining package (it worked out cheaper than staying on points and buying the DDP). Anyway I had to pay a deposit for the new booking and then they refunded me the money for the tickets. This time they didn't charge me £25 for the alteration. Hope that this helps!
i changed few weeks ago and the cm told me she would forward
information to hammersmith to refund our deposit with no charges as we
were upgrading to a deluxe resort. this was all done within few days, money back into account, really impressed with service.
we changed from week in akl & week in pop to yacht club with free dining.
Virgin told me categorically that if Free Dining is added to the period we are there after we book (Dec 10) I cannot add the free dining on to my booking, even if I pay the amendment fee. The only option would be cancellign the holiday and losing the deposit, then re-booking.
the original question was booking through disney uk though so I think they have slightly different terms to virgin as it may only be a hotel only booking instead of flight as well
it just shows it depends on the cm, i had to pay another deposit for yacht club and then the other deposits for akl/pop were refunded, not very
consistent though for the paying customer.
just that were thinking on upgrading to ssr with free ddp.would have thought that as you giving them extra money they would fall over to help you.if not might not do it there loss

I booked last week for Dec 2010 and I specifically asked what I would need to do if they suddenly brought out free dining for my dates (I have currently booked room, tickets and paid dining) - they told me it would be a cancellation and rebook and would only cost £25 for the whole booking (not per person) - but no one mentioned losing any deposit!!!
I would be really cross now if they wouldn't let me do that for £25, considering I SPECIFICALLY asked!!!
It really annoys me when companys say different things to different people over the phone, and then they never seem to stick to it - this is the problem I had with Virgin last year, I hope it doesn't happen with Disney too??!!

I changed from Pop (14 days for 10) to SSR with free dining - First she said we charge £25 per booking for the change but because you are upgrading there will be no charge. However, she then said we will have to cancel your original booking & rebook you & charge the £25. She also took another deposit but said the original deposit would be refunded. I think this was because both bookings were special offers. If we had added DDP to Pop it would have cost us £62 more! (there 3 of us).
I had 2 rooms booked for Pop with paid dining, and amended to OKW with the free dining.
I was told there should be a £25 amendment fee per cancelled booking, however as we were upgrading to the Deluxe, they said they'd make an exception and only make 1 charge.
When I got the money back, they didn't charge any amendment fee!
Definitely no mention of a loss of deposit, even though you are cancelling as you are re-booking!
