Cancer Message Boards?

Hey - haven't been here in ages - most of you probably don't remember me because when I was here I posted mostly on the apparently dismantled Debate Board when I wasn't planning a trip.

Anyway - I was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer back in July and will have my last of 8 chemo's next Tuesday. Then on to surgery (IBC does it all backwards!) probably radiation and who know what else. So that sort of explains the haven't been here in ages!! I really haven't been ready to do a whole lot of message boarding about it until now. I've got a great attitude and definitely plan on beating this - but the closer I get to surgery I guess the more I feel the need to talk to others about it. Soooooo- where else but the DIS to find out if you all know of any good cancer - and even more specifically breast cancer message boards? I've signed on the Susan G Komen site - but it's really not that active. I guess the DIS makes me think all boards should be as active as this.

Also - if by chance any of you have had or know someone with specifically Inflammatory Breast Cancer I'd love to hear from you or them or about their experience - unless they've died and then I really don't want to know about it. IBC is only 1% of all Breast Cancers so it's really hard to find someone that has the same thing as me.

Hi Debbie! Of course I remember you! A huge welcome back and I'm so sorry to hear of your illness. It does sound like you're hanging in there and have the right attitude toward getting well. Good for you.

Please visit often, there are lots of DISers on the CB with experience with breast cancer, I'm sure you'll get a ton of support from them, and everyone here.

Hi Debbie. And welcome back.

As grinningghost said above, lots of folks here on the DIS who have/had breast cancer, including my wife, Marie, 6 years in remission now. As for IBC specifically, I know currently of two here on the DIS, Tiger Fan (Lisa), who currently is either in hospital or just returned, from appendix operation. Lisa was diagnosed several years back. Also, Mickey527 (Peggie) was just recently diagnosed and is currently in treatment. If you get in touch with them I am sure they may have some good insights for you and be able to share some thoughts.

Remember, Debbie, attitude is a very powerful elixir and you sure sound like you have that, in quantity. My best wishes are with you along with my prayers for a complete remission in a short time. My best.

Hey Debbie I am an 8 yr Survivor. One of the ladies in my Support group. Was dx with inflamatory a few months before me. Yes, we still attend group 8 yrs later. It is a safe place and we have grown tight. She has a positive attitude and is thriving. She is back work. PM me and I will pm her your e-mail. Please don't think you will be a bother, this is one of the purpose of our group(we call ourselves Been there Done that, we usually do it face to face in Tulsa OK. Our group is sponsored by a national organization. Call Y-ME National in Chicago(we started in the YWCA) also for Peer to Peer Support. Looking forward to hearing from you. Hang in there.
