We got really lucky with this cruise. I had been watching airfare for a while and logged on to cheapoair.com several times a day. Rarely did I see anything from PHX for less than $1400/person. One Monday evening I checked and found round trips for $750/person, I ended upgrading some seats and finished at about $825 for each of us. 2 days later it was back up to $1500.

I will certainly write a review and comparison when we get back. I'm going in knowing it's not going to be DCL, but also knowing it certainly beats working. I've read so many CCL trip reports on many 7 day cruises on various ships and truly believe the two lines are more similar than different.

Out of curiosity, why do you think cruise rates will go down in the fall?
Schools back in session. Fall is pretty much a time when disounts are plentiful on all cruise lines. I certainly don't see them going up. DCL's Med cruises haven't sold in Sept. DCL has trouble selling cruises that are off season especially if they're not out of Florida. I like the itinerary of the Vista cruise better, and the ship actually looks better than the Magic. I honestly don't think you're going to miss DCL at all.

We are looking at a RCCL Med cruise in Fall of 2016. We have never sailed on any other line but DCL, but we are having visitors and they want to go. We have friends that are huge DCL, and sail RC all the time in Europe. I am really looking forward to trying RCCL and getting a great price.

CCL just had a price reduction on our 6/3 Mediterranean on the Vista, now for 4 of us in 2 insides it's only $4520 including trip insurance and pre-paid gratuity. We'll be on her 4th sailing and am really looking forward to the Havana and Serenity areas, not to mention sinking my teeth into a Guy Fieri burger! Some of the included meal places seem pretty awesome.
Once you eat a burger at Guy's you'll never want another frozen hockey puck from DCL again! So good! :)

What ship? Ive been looking at Harmony in October. I like the fact that it departs from Rome. It also looks like a gun ship for kids.

Vision of the Sea out of Venice. I love the itinerary since we are missing Turkey and Greece on the Magic this summer, and it goes to Croatia.
