Hi - I have a package booked for March 25th with free dining. I also (stupidly) bought the insurance. If I pay the balance and then later decide to cancel my reservation, then I lose 200 plus the amount I paid for insurance, right?

What if I am cancelling to stay with my DVC points? Would that make a difference?

Thanks!

Yes, if you are cancelling without any kind of medical reason or for something the insurance would cover, you would lose $200 plus what you paid for the insurance. It doesn't matter if you are rebooking using DVC points, it's still a package cancellation less than 45 days out, so the penalty would apply.

Thanks. I was hoping this could be a change fee or something.

Did you just buy DVC? If you bought direct from Disney, they may waive the fee.

No, I am waiting for my resale contract to come through. I guess I will just enjoy my last free dining before I become an owner :)

This just happened to us. We had to cancel our first 4 nights at CSR. But since we were still coming and staying 7 nights with a DVC ressie they looked it up and kindly refunded our entire pkg. So you never know.
