Cancelling hotel part of Disney Package?

Hi everyone! I was trying to find information about this on the Disney World site, but I must be missing it and with the call times so long, I was hoping someone might know here. I had booked a Disney Springs hotel/tickets package, but it turns out we can stay with friends instead. Normally I would just buy tickets, but of course that’s not an option. Can I cancel my room and still keep the tickets that came with my package? Would I do that through Disney or the hotel?

From my experience, no. Packages vs. room only reservations have different cancellation fees, deposit requirements, cancellation policies, etc. even at the DS locations. To drop the hotel reservation would cancel the entire reservation. You need to buy tickets separate.
