I have seen a few mentions of people needing to cancel their FREE prime membership soon. I am horrible at remembering this type of thing, so I set mine to NOT auto-renew when the free trial is over.
Here are the steps to do this:
1. Go to your account page at Amazon.com
2. Under Orders & More Order Actions is a link that says "Manage Prime Membership". Click on that link.
3. My account says, "Your trial membership will upgrade to a full membership for $79 automatically on December XX, 2009". Then, there is a button that says "Do Not Upgrade". Click on that button.
4. This will turn off the Auto Upgrade.
5. Now your account should say, "Your trial membership will not upgrade to a full membership automatically on December XX, 2009".
I hope this helps someone save $79 -- it is one less thing to keep track of this holiday season!

Yup! Works flawlessly. I did this last time with my membership too and was so glad to see that they were doing it again this time!
