I am beginning to think that we are not meant to go to Florida...EVER!!!

Well I should not say ever, we were last there in May 2007. We got our very first pin code last year and booked for fall but I found out I was expecting in Oct so we had to cancel as our trip fell right on my due date! So we got another pin code for this year and we booked Christmas...of course being on maternity leave and owing a HUGE amount of taxes this year among other household renos we figured that we could just not afford it....then my sister offered us a free stay with them at their beachhouse in St georges island which is beautiful but last minute we had to cancel because of my fathers health. Sooooo...we jumped on free dining and figured we would find a way to swing it, we had it half paid for and had already made ADR'S, bought little trinkets for the kids for the van ride, bought some american$ too....WELL today we find out our daughter needs braces NOW and it will be 5400!!! So another trip cancelled.....:sad2:

Sorry to hear you had to cancel once again.... As for the orthodontist,
it isnt something you had to pay all at once is it ? in my area payments are made quarterly, we found out that DD needed braces last july, by the time we got the ortho appt to consult it was 5 months later, then two more months before they required a down payment,

I sure hope you get some pixie dust your way..

We have 2 boys that both need braces. Both have had 2 consiltations. The youngest now has a retainer, which I pay for monthly, before he can get his braces on. And, we go Thursday for an appointment with the oral surgeon for the oldest. Point being, we are able to pay monthly for the orthodontist. There are no additional interest charges, and no benefit to paying it all up front. You should check into that option. Although it may not save your trip this time, it may be something you are interested in. Good luck!:wizard:

Sadly they do have a payment plan and they are being flexible but we are starting the braces immediately because of some baby teeth holding the molars from moving so apparently time is of the essence. We have already paid for the retainers and braces she had to correct an earlier problem which were only 1500, thought we had gotten off easy!! We have to pay 1600 up front and then the rest monthly but that is just too much with the trip being so close, only problem is that we already purchased MNSSHP tix for Sept 4 so I guess we are out that money....oh well Mickey will be waiting for us someday!!!

I read someone else on the Boards had to cancel and was able to get a refund for the MNSSHP tix - may be worth a shot

I know it stinks but give yourself a pat on the back for doing the responsible thing and not putting the trip on credit - you are teaching your kids a very valuable lesson!:thumbsup2

I understand what you are going through. We were hoping to go next march. Unfortunately, my DD needs speech therapy for her dyslexia and it doesn't come cheap.... One day, we will go back. Maybe next summer....:surfweb:

I might be willing to take the MNSSHP tickets off your hands.....PM if you're interested.

I sympathize with you. I had to postpone 4 separate, already planned trip last year. With one of them I had to cancel a few days before I left !! Luckily I was suppose to meet people and only lost my part of the room charges and my cheap airline ticket. Real life has a way of stepping in and really switching things up for a person !!

That really sucks ... I know how much you guys love it there.

:sad2:

yeah we feel like we have not been there in sooo long but it was only 2 years ago! I feel so bad for the kids, they get soo excited and then we have to tell them its cancelled...(when I say kids, I mean the big kids too!);)
