Cancelled trip :(

Hey guys - not exactly a newbie, have been here around a month now, and boy am i glad of this website.

I'm supposed to be on vacation in Florida right now, sunning it up with Mickey and pals, unfortunately this is not sooo...

Was supposed to leave last thurs but about a week before that my dad became ill. he's fine now but was advised not to fly in the next month - no way could my Dbrother, Dmum and I have gone with out him...

so....we have rebooked for the end of august for two weeks! yey!!!!! we were originally staying off site, but as we discovered life is so fragile and you just have to live for the moment we are going all out and staying on site next time and have decided to disney properly!!

Just wanted to say that all these boards, hints and tips have been invaluable in planning our trip, and I dont know where i'd be without them! It really is a brilliant service!

So, thanks guys! And I believe that Disney will do wonders for my Dad's health later this summer

There must be a reason that the trip was delayed..just think, a few more visits to these boards and you will have more magic to try As the OP said, Disney will still be there and it will continue to be the Happiest Place on Earth..Lifting a prayer for your dad

Keep in mind that the heat and humidity in August are going to be much worse than they would have been in June so if your Dad, or anyone is not used to that you will need to take it easy. Drink LOTS and LOTS of water and maybe rest at the hotel and pool between about 12 and 4 when it is the hottest.

Have a great time and enjoy the chance to plan for another month!

So glad your Dad is doing better and will be able to make the trip. You may have had to postpone, but I bet you end up enjoying it more than you would have. You will have a newfound appreciation.

I second what lovetoscrap said about heat and humidity and drinking lots of water. If your Dad couldn't fly for a while then I am guessing he will tire more easily than he would have. Take the opportunity to slow down (for him, and for the heat) and enjoy all the special little things about WDW that Walt had in mind when he created it. I bet this will be your best trip ever!

I'm sorry you had to cancel your trip, but am glad to hear that your dad is doing better and will be able to travel with you in August. It is very difficult when one's parent becomes ill. My dad has been, since February, in the hospitial/nursing home and now back in the hospital in ICU.
