Cancelled Trip

We have reservations for Today and Saturday night at SSR. Our daughter woke up sick this morning :sick: . There is no way we can go, and since check-in is today, are going to lose our points for the trip.

Any suggestions with what to do with the room?
 
you can see if you can rent the two nights, you never know if someone is down there looking for a room or looking for a room for family. You will be surprise how many people live in florida that look for last min. ressies.

you can also call MS and ask what they suggest, i believe if you dont check in
today, you will lose both nights. If you call MS and cancel tomorrow, you may just lose today points and tomorrow will go into holding account.
 
My sister was using some of our points for four nights a few years ago and her daughter got sick on the way to the airport. I called MS at 2:00 in the afternoon (reservation began that night). They were very understanding and put the points into a holding account. I did have to sell them at a loss as it was too late to bank them.

We called MS this morning and was told we would lose the points. I was hoping that since the resorts were really busy right now, they would put the points in a holding account and free up the room for someone else. Rules are rules, and I can accept that we are losing the points.
 
What about using that super-secret-one-time-in-your-life-exception some people have mentioned?

I'm so sorry about your daughter...she must be miserable!! :guilty:
 
I wanted to post an update. After thinking about the above replies, we called Memeber Services again and talked to a manager. The Manager fely sorry for our daughter and since we were already had enough to worry about with her, put our points in a holding account and cancel our reservation! :banana:

MS really came through for us today!! Thank You Member Services!! :sunny:

Congratulations on having the points put into holding. I guess rules are not rules at MS after all.

That doesn't apply to cancellations. It applies only to missed banking deadlines. Fortunately it worked out for the OP.

Last update!

DD is feeling well enough to go to school today. Yesterday she was feeling better, but was absolutely drained. She wasn't even interested in going to the mall to do some shopping!

We weren't plannning to go to Disney until May next year (excluding NYE), but since we have the points and my wife and I birthdays are coming up in February, I think we'll have a duel Disney birthday celebration.

We all agreed that it was probably better that this weekend she got sick and not in two weeks when our family and my brothers family is going to Disney.
