So disappointed with Disney today. I currently hold an airline employee discount room only reservation at AoA for the beginning of our stay. We had booked the SPD package for the second half of our stay. We decided today to add my parents as their Christmas present. The difference in price should have been about $385 per room, but when I called Disney they quoted a price of a little over $500 per room. I explained that I had booked the package during their "glitch" and was hoping that they would honor the price...long story short they refused. The gentlemen I spoke to in guest relations was less than polite about the entire situation. It was such an unDisney moment. For a difference of $224...they are losing all of my $5000 package. I now this may seem petty, but it put a really sour taste in my mouth. We will keep the first half of the ressie because the kids were so excited about the new resort, but the second half is looking like it will be off site. We stayed at the Fountains resort in June and really liked it, but it isn't available. Do you guys have a favorite off site resort?

Try getting a quote from Vacation Strategy or Vacation Upgrades for a villa in Wyndham Bonnet Creek. There is a whole thread, We LOOOVe Bonnet Creek, here on this board. I booked with VS and got a 3 bedroom presidential villa for $1950 for 9 nights over NYE. The availabity is limited for presidential villas, but they have 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom deluxes (that cost less) and there are more of them throughout the resort. The resort has a lazy river and multiple pool slides.

Another option is to look into Caribe Royale because they have suites and villas, but are not a timeshare so you can book with them directly.

oh the ritz-carlton is a marriott - no matter what others say - or it would not be on www.marriott.com - which it definitely is.

also have a list of inexpensive hotels close to disney as well

forgot - that is normal policy for Disney.

once they end a discount - they don't go back to add to ANYTHING.

so if you ever think you will need more than one room - reserve it when the discount is in effect. otherwise you can forget it. You can cancel easier than trying to add once the discount terms have ended.

sorry.

Lots of information about "the glitch" including that Disney corrected it within a few hours and that changes couldn't be made without triggering an increase (but that Disney was honoring reservations that had been made). Not sure why it was a surprise to the OP. Why not just keep the great discount and put the parents in a separate room only reservation?

other hotels would allow you to extend a discount.

not disney.

Not always but it sounds like that's not what happened.

The OP said she booked during a "glitch". Sometimes a company will honor reservations made during a "glitch" sometimes they will cancel them. I don't know of any examples where a hotel will let you book additional rooms, or add nights, after the error was discovered and corrected. Disney is honoring the price, just not allowing the OP to add extras to their package.

It wasn't any fault of mine, and the difference of putting my parents in a room we already had and getting a seperate reservation was a lot. I know many people would have done it differently, I think more than anything it was the attitude I was met with.

Thanks for all the info...I have a message into someone that owns at Bonnet Creek.

You took advantage of a Disney mistake. Disney honored the mistake. Disney won't let you make any changes. You called and the CM told you the price to make the changes you wanted to make. An employee should be able to tell you NO without an attitude. Sounds like the "attitude" started when you tried to debate the charge with the CM. I agree the CM shouldn't have had an attitude. Should have politely asked if you want to make the change. At some point the "attitude" is with the customer who insists on debating the issue.

Honestly, I think you cut off your nose to spite your face. Disney is not obligated to extend the "glitch" rate when you change your reservation and the $100 extra per day per person they quoted includes both park passes and dining. That's not a bad deal!

That being said, I just booked a beautiful 4 bedroom pool home in Rolling Hills for just $800 for Christmas week and that includes tax and pool heat. I was also looking at 2 BRs at Vistana for about the same price. I'm sure that you can find a condo or house offsite for less than $1000 for the week.

What site do you use for Vistana?

I by no means presented anything with attitude...I just asked a question and the woman said she had to ask guest services. I waited and when he got on the line he spoke to me as if he had had a bad day :confused3. I'm sure they do get lots of people that argue points with them, he just told me their policy and price and I said "No, thank you." End of story...I guess my vent has just come out wrong. As you can tell, I'm a Disney fan, super fan even, I'll be back on property sometime I'm sure.

Thanks for recommendations for off property places, I'm sure one of them will make our vacation GRAND!!!

Both eBay and Redweek had a Vistana 2BR for around $700 for Christmas week. There is still a 2BR on eBay now with a BIN price of $675 for 12/21-12/28.
