The weather is horrible!! I'm hoping our flight won't get cancelled tonight but if it does what is the procedure? Will we lose the 58 points we had used to book for tonight? Did we have to have some kind of insurance? I'm not sure at all what happens in this situation.

Thanks!

DVC is often generous with weather related situations, but they do offer trip insurance for situations like this.

I'd call the resort to let them know your situation if the flight is cancelled.

There is no set procedure for weather delays/cancellations. Member Services may work with you, but are under no obligation to do so. I would call the resort directly as soon as you know you flight status so they know if you will be arriving or not.

Under DVC rules, if you don't show up, you lose the points. Points for the entire stay are considered used on the first night of the reservation.

As Doc says, there is trip insurance available. It is through an outside company and there is a flyer sheet in you mailed confirmation envelope. The insurance does not replace the points, it assigns a dollar value for reimbursement based on the number of points needed for the reservation.

I think some Pixie Dust is called for, too!pixiedust: I also know that MS has told me that people book a night because they are getting in early the next morning and that the room isn't actually necessarily cancelled when morning rolls around. I asked because I was thinking of doing that, and needed clarification regarding the "no show" policy.

This happened to us last March. Our March 17 flight was cancelled and we called DVC as soon as we got home from the airport. They put us on hold and verified that the flight was cancelled. They put our points into a holding account. We were able to get a flight out on March 20 and we were able to get a reservation last minute through DVC. They couldn't have been more helpful.

hope everything works out...keep us up to date:cheer2: I am cheerin for you

I'm on the other end of this! We are sitting here at VWL hoping we can't get home tomorrow! It would be terrible to have to stay another night or two!;)

We made it! Thanks for everyone's info!! Funny thing is....we flew out in July in perfect weather and our flight was delayed by four hours. This year it was snowing heavily and many flights were cancelled and we boarded on time. The only delay was the deicing of the plane! Only 20 mins late arriving!

We made it home too :sad1:

We had absolutely perfect flights. No delays, no ground-stops, and no bad weather. I really could have stayed another two nights ;) Oh well.

We decided against an April trip this year because flights are soooo expensive, but now I am really depressed. DH will kill me if I decide to change plans and just go!
