Cancellations at 30 days out

Does anyone find that their waitlist fills around 30 days from the expected check in date? How about on the website.... do resorts have random days available closer to the 30 day mark? We have a bungalow for one night waitlisted for our upcoming trip and was wondering if our chances are pretty much slim to none at this point (40 days until hopeful check in). I was just wondering about availability at 30 days from those of you who have been DVC members for longer than me

Does anyone find that their waitlist fills around 30 days from the expected check in date?

I had a CM at MS tell me a few years ago that that is exactly the case. That lots of members know that their cancelling, but don't get around to actually doing it and freeing up the room until they get close to that 30 day mark. She explained that to me when I'd WL a room at 7 months out as a surprise to DH, waited until about 33 days, then confessed my intended surprise-"Well, at least I tried." The next day the WL came through. As far as being members longer knowing this, we'd been members for 11 years before I know this! Currently we've been Waitlisted for a room for 5 months for October. We'll start really hoping after Labor Day.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm holding out hope but who knows. I know that one year I waitlisted a room at Old Key West sorta last minute and when I didn't hear anything I booked a room at Pop Century for my 3 nights. When I returned from our trip, I checked my DVC account on day to find that I DID get the room...and I didn't even know or I wouldn't have spent money on another room reservation. They returned my DVC points to my account without a problem.
