We have never canceled or altered a vacation before and might need to for our next trip. I called DVC but, understandably, they are swamped with hurricane Irma canceling/rescheduling calls and asked that all other calls wait till after the hurricane weather is over.. I'm hoping someone here can let me know what my options are.
Our vacation is scheduled for late October through early November this year, we are 51 days out. I know things change after we hit the 31 day mark. Our use year starts in December, and we borrowed from our 2017 points for this vacation.
I read for cancellations more than 31 days out: "All Vacation Points used to make the reservation will be returned to your account in the Use Year in which the reservation falls." Since we borrowed from Dec 2017, would the points need to be used by the end of 2017 or by the end of our Dec 2017 use year?
I read if rescheduling more than 31 days out: "If the new reservation uses fewer Vacation Points than the original reservation, the remaining Vacation Points will be returned to your account in the Use Year in which the reservation falls." Would the points need to be used by the end of 2017 since we borrowed?
Thank you for any insight!
