I have a package that I've been paying on for the end of January 2012. It includes myself and three other people. It includes free dining.

Unfortunately, I can't go on the trip (along with one other person in the package.) However, the other two people can still make it.

Can I cancel myself and another person off of the package and have the other two people keep the package (and the free dining?).

(I hope I explained that right).

My first suggestion is that you ask any questions directly to WDW.

You should be able to do what you are asking. However, if you are less than 45 days out - you may have to pay a $100 (I think ) penalty fee if the change you are asking will lower teh total value of the trip.

If you cancel less than 7days out, assuming a package- the penalty is $200. Any change that lowers the total cost of the trip also may cause the $200 penalty.

I woudl presume sine you said free dining that you have apackage, which includes park tickets.

However, you should call WDW. If you are over 45 days out you should be fine. If you are less, there's a chance they won't penalize you even if they could.

I'll also caution you that if a CM tells you you'll have to pay a penalty, or tells you something that doesn't sound reasonable - it may be in your best interest to hang up without making any changes - and call back. Call center CM's can be quite uneven in their kowledge of WDW policy. Misinformation is not uncommon. I've never had to cancel, but I've often had CM's tell me something is not an option when I know perfectly well it is. Rather frequently three different CM's will give you three different answers!

TRip insurance is also a potential factor. If you bought it, it may cover any losses.

I'm a TA and I have this happen a lot. It's no problem at all to take a guest off the reservation. If you're under 45 days, they "may" charge you a $50 change fee, which is standard policy. This isn't always the case and as the previous poster mentioned, it's not uniform. Be polite and ask if you can waive it; I've had CMs do this under certain circumstances but they will sometimes do things on the TA line that they don't do on the regular phone lines. If they say no, remember that the CMs who work in the call centers have to play by the rules and it's a hard job.

It sounds like you're not under 45 days, so you should be fine. They'll just need to change the lead guest on the reservation. If you've already paid off your package, you'll be refunded the amount of your tickets (plus an upgrade for dining, if you have that) in about 5 - 10 working days.

Good luck.

The penalty for cancelling a package (not a rooom only reservation) after the 45 day mark is $200. You can move a package after the 45 day mark and not incur any penalties, although you may lose discounts. The penalty for making changes after the 45 day mark is (in theory) a $50 change fee if the cost of the package goes down. If it goes up, there's no penalty or change fee.
