We booked an adult's only trip to Alaska Sept 2009, with Adventures By Disney using points a few months ago. Then, I got pregnant and I'm due in May. There's no way we can go on this trip and are going to have to cancel.

It's a lot of points, 892 to be exact and I'm hoping I won't just loose them. I know that they can't be put back into the regular pot, but can I put them towards a cruise or WDW trip in 2010?

Thanks!

You are right. That's a whole lot of points to be reservation points. You'll need to check with MS to see when they expire. You might not be able to hold them out until 2010.

Whether you will be able to use them in December, 2010 will depend on your Use Year. Basically, the points will need to be used by the end of the Use Year that trip would fall in. For instance, if you have a June Use Year, the points returned to your account from cancelling a September, 2009 trip would need to be used by May 31, 2010. If you have a February Use Year, those points would expire on January 31, 2010.

Sorry you won't be able to go on that trip - but you have a wonderful reason for cancelling! :) Congratulations on the family addition.

From the literature for our Viva Italia trip, it seems that you will forfeit 54 points per person, since you are more than 120 days out. The rest will go into your 2009 use year as reservation points. Reservation points can be used for ABD, DCL, WDW non-DVC resorts, resorts at DL, or the CC. I'm not sure if you can use them for an II exchange. That may be possible too. But since we have used all the trades accept II, I'm not sure about that one. If you took out the point insurance, you may be able to receive $5 a point on the ones you actually loose. Check with Travel Guard to verify.

By the way, Congratulations!

Sorry I can't help with your question, but I did want to stop in and say 'Congratulations!!' :) :goodvibes

I have no idea if AbD allows name changes, but perhaps you can "rent" out the trip similar to having a confirmed reservation? You may not get top $$ for it but if the restrictions on reservation points prove too strict with a new baby due, maybe its better? Congratulations on your new addition!

90 or more Days
54 Reservation Points or $300.00 of the cash payment made
This is the cancellation requirements. Make a plan and see if you can change it rather than simply canceling. If so, you might be able to salvage those points you'd lose by canceling.

Thank you so much! I'm going to see if we can transfer the booking and rent it to someone else, as the cash would be really appreciated.

Otherwise, our Use Year is April, so we'd have to book a trip to travel by March 31st 2010?

Thanks for the congratulations! It's all very exciting.
