If I cancel my vacation will the meals be cancelled as well or do I have to call Disney dining to do that

If you have the confirmation #'s, you can cancel them online @ disneyworld dot com. But yes, you'll have to cancel them.

yep..CM asked me when I cancelled if I wanted to be transferred to dining to cancel ADRs, I said no (we decided to stay somewhere else), and that was it...ADRs were still in my account!!!!

Yes, you have to cancel them separately. Dining reservations are not linked with your resort reservation.
