Cancel or go alone?

do the solo trip - and if you want someone to eat or visit with outside the parks hey I live around an hour to 90 minutes from WDW - just it depends upon when you are going - my pass only allows some days in Jan - no Sat or sun or holidays. there are others go visit the solo board here on the Dis. I really think you will enjoy it and be ready for anything when you get back.

boy your husband work is almost cruel - but hey it definitely pays the bills.

Thanks Spiceycat. At this point I think I'm going to go. I only have a few days to decide though. I will check out the solo board, maybe I can find a meet up for a drink or something. And don't feel badly for DH, he is self employed and booked his only employee to attend a 3 day training the same week we are in Disney.:sad2: I found out about it when he sent me a text asking if we could change our trip from Jan 14-21 to Jan 10-17. I took a deep breath and said "Sure, but I'm busy at work, can you check for availability at the Poly and for flights out in 13 days?" I never heard back from him :teeth:

I would feel extremely guilty going to Disney without the kids. I don’t even think we could do a grown ups only trip to Disney (elsewhere, yes, WDW, no). But it sounds like you go enough that that’s not an issue. If that’s true and DH doesn’t mind, I say go. Time alone is a great thing.
Wife and I went a couple weeks ago for 2 nights and 3 full days without the kids. Wanted to see it at Christmas time and have a little alone time. Weird not being there with them and although we had a blast, there was definitely something missing. It was nice to be out after 8p in the parks though and not worry about them getting tired or getting out of line for a bathroom break.

OP-Go and have fun!

And no one whined or complained.

:)

My first no-family rundisney trip was with my best friend. The only *moment* we had was when I was overly happy that we were in line to get food (she was getting hangry), and she said “well you need food too!”

With family that argument would have gone on and on. With her it was “yep I do” and it was done. Because we were eating and felt better. :)

No compromises (Don't love that restaurant? No problem! Want to ride IASW 23 times in a row? Go right ahead!), no one to make happy except for yourself!

YES.

Oh, silly husband....

Weird not being there with them and although we had a blast, there was definitely something missing.

It does. But then it enhances the family trips. I did my first solo trip to Disneyland when DS was 3 and our family trip the month before nearly sent me over the edge (trips with 3 year olds aren’t “vacation”!). DH and DS has some serious conversations and presented me with a weekend away. When I saw happy joyous families I got a little sad. Luckily there were sooooo many more tantruming kids and spouses around, and they made me feel happy to be alone.

I wouldn't go. I may go someplace else alone for a few days, but if I had a trip planned and looked forward to with my spouse I just wouldn't do it. Unless you want a week away from him. that changes things. But I still may try to change up the plans so as to save the points- we don't have a ton...

Go! Do you have a friend who might fly in and hang out with you for a few days? Perhaps the Mr. can join you for part of the time. I’ve done weekend solo trips and they are fun. You get to do everything you have ever wanted to do. That being said, a week might get a little lonely without company for part of the time. Could your daughter extend her stay by a day or two—send the bf home and the two of you could share some girl time?

Normally I could find someone, my Mom or one of my kids. The problem is it being so close that flights are really expensive and people can't get vacation time. I'm going to go though. I think I'll be a bit lonely around day 5 but certainly not bored!

Treat yourself! youre a mom of 4, you deserve it!!! Going solo is the best thing ever! I did it a few times and absolutely loved it. I never got lonely. As a mom of four im sure you'll enjoy the quiet time too.

they are wonderfully - love the studios at Poly - ask for Moorea - it has some wonderful views - even the garden view is great
you are really close to the TTC - so short cut to Epcot is a really short walk and I always like taking the ferry to the MK -

LOVE solo trips!! Going alone for 5 nights in Feb, going to DL alone for 3 days in July, going on a DCL cruise alone in Feb 2019! (Of course, I'm single, so it's solo or wait for my friends to make up their minds which is always last minute, so... Solo it is!!)

A solo trip! Sounds great! I will say, though, I went with my son and just went with my mom and sister last year and ended up with tons of time on my own at the parks because they love to sleep LATE and I was so lonely during those times. Especially when something cool or magical would happen and it was just me to experience it and I didn't have anyone else to share it with. BUT I wasn't prepared for a solo trip, I didn't realize I'd be alone so often, ha! There were moments of relaxation and people watching mixed with a tinge of loneliness. Just my two cents. :)

I'm most certain this is how I'll feel mostly. I've spent a few hours at a time in the resorts or parks while family was napping and it is bittersweet.

Well, it's official...definitely going alone. No one can help me with this but I am still struggling with the extravagance of a poly studio all by myself!!
If I was staying in a studio by myself I would make good use of the microwave, toaster and coffee pot. :) I would enjoy staying solo in a studio more than in a regular resort room just for this reason.

Being alone and being lonely are not the same. Some of the loneliest people I know are married and surrounded by people. It's a state of mind. At WDW there are always lots of lovely, friendly and interesting folks to chat with everywhere you look!

With DVC, l'm able to solo several times a year. Poly is one of my favorites! Love the studios and all the space. Great restaurants, boat and monorail transport... its wonderfully indulgent!

I love the freedom and independence to do whatever I want whenever I want where ever I want. Real life just doesn't work that way! Family trips are great too for sure. But I can totally relax when solo. It really is so restorative!

Have a wonderful trip!

But, but that Poly room is so big!!!:goodvibes
It's not that big, I've been there. Go alone, you deserve it. I've done one solo trip myself and I loved it. I love travelling with family and friends, but there's something relaxing about being there alone. It's not like you'll be bored, there's plenty to do.
