Canadians: using airmiles to purchase park tickets

Hi - this is my first post here :)

We had a spontaneous trip to DL a couple years ago, but now I'm planning a big trip to WDW for next year and looking to cut corners on costs.

I was going to see if I could use airmiles to fly to florida, but it seems that they won't let me. While there I noticed that they sell theme park tickets. I just wanted to see if anyone has had any problems with using airmiles for theme park tickets and WDW tickets in particular (was thinking to use them for US tickets as well).

Can they be linked to magic bands? How early should I order them?

Thank you in advance

Move your questions to the Canadian board. We talk about Airmiles all the time. There are several threads right now.

To answer your question though, I have not paid OOP for WDW park tickets for the last 8-10 years. I use my Airmiles and you can even upgrade your tickets after you get to WDW if you want to. AM currently only offers 3 day or 5 day base tickets.

Yes, you can link to MB's.

If you are staying on site and want to book FP+ at the 60 days order your tickets a month or more before that. In general, the tickets will arrive in about a week but they tell you it's 2-3 weeks.

They have 7 day tickets on the site right now for 3400 points. Is that a new thing? I've never ordered tickets from Airmiles because I always thought it was too hard to accumulate the points the way we spend. I decided to try recently and am learning there are plenty of ways for us to accumulate points. I earned 485 airlmiles today from carefully shopping the offers at Sobeys. We're going to try really hard to get at least one of our passes free for our next trip in February or March.

Canadian Board! I somehow completely missed that board! I'm so excited! I'm going to go find it!

I'm so happy to hear that there are no weird hiccups with them and that this option has been around for quite a while.
Thank you :)

They may have had the 7 day tix and I just missed that. Things do change up a little here and there.

I hope you purchased the $150 gift card from Sobey's.

Get an AM credit card which is a good way to get large amounts of points fast. Right now there is a deal on the Amex that comes up on the AM home page. I think it's 2000 AM if you spend $500 in the first 3 months and no annual fee for the first year. I'm not 100% sure on that but it's something similar.

Gas at Shell can also rack up some decent points...there is always a promo.

You have to think through some of the promo's to figure out how best to work them.
