Canadians in February 2010?

February is fast approaching! I'm so excited. :yay: The weather is looking wonderful, now that the cold arctic spell is done. I'm happy if the temp is in the high teens (Celsius of course)to low 20's. A few hot day of 25, 26, 27 would be lovely for a swim.

Tigercat(my Mom) and myself are going with my 2 children and my Brother Jan 31 - Feb 5th. Staying at ASMo and driving down:cheer2::yay:

I can't believe February is almost here. You all must be getting just as excited for your trips as I am for mine. Just wanted to remind you all that if you're there on February 11, you are invited to my meet. I'd love to meet you all. Link's in my signature.

I can now officially contribute to this thread! :)

We will be visiting Disney for one day in Feb thanks to the Disney "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" volunteer promotion.

I just need to figure out what day! We'll more than likely add hoppers to the tickets so we can do a quick run to each park and hit our fav attractions/shows.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I do not believe that you can add the hopper option to a one day ticket. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

four more sleeps until we leave for our very first Disney trip! We will be staying at ASMo from Feb. 2-11, with 6 day park-hopper passes.

I have a question for my fellow Canadians....what do you tip for housekeeping? We have never done that, nor heard of it. Is it an American thing? I worked in housekeeping when I was younger, and we were never tipped. My mother in law is the Housekeeping manager of an upscale hotel and she has never heard of it being done either. Input???

We are very excited to get to some warm temperatures. It makes us giggle though when the Florida weather page says that 20C is "cool". :rotfl2:

I don't know what's expected by housekeeping and I haven't tipped housekeepers. Maybe it is an American thing?

Good news! You can add the hopper to any length ticket. Mousesavers explained it nicely: It is true that at a flat rate of $52 ($55.38 with tax), the Park Hopper option adds quite a bit to the cost of a 1-Day or 2-Day Base Ticket. But if you use it for admission to two or more parks, it can be a decent value.

It really is a personal decision. We have read over the years that mousekeeping at Disney doesn't get paid very much, so they really appreciate tips, so we leave a couple dollars per night....Here is another thought on the matter from Anita Answer from Allears:

Gratuities for the resorts are subjective, and entirely up to you. There are no real rules, but like the Pirates' Code, there are some guidelines. For tipping at the resorts this is what I do, and you may choose to do it differently:

Housekeeping: For a regular resort room, like those at the Caribbean Beach Resort, I leave at least $2 per day, or $1 per day for each person staying in the room. I tip daily, because I may not have the same housekeeper throughout my stay

Hope this helps! :flower3:

I've been in housekeeping for 16 years...three different properties, one a resort in Muskoka..and it definately depends on the traveller. Others tend to tip much more than Canadians.
I tip 4-5 each time I get my room cleaned, but again, I work in housekeeping so I know how much work it can be, and I don't tend to get my room cleaned while staying somewhere.
Most people tip $1-2/night. I don't think any is expected, it's just a nice bonus. :)

We pool our tips for the day and split them, adding our laundry lady in there, as she does just as much as the rest of us :)
We had a bunch of hockey teams at our hotel a couple weekends ago and two rooms tipped us 20 bucks each USD! :) Thankfully my fellow co-workers let me buy it at par ;)
HTH...

We'll be there from Feb. 3rd to 13th
Staying at CBR
Kids first trip to WDW (they stayed home last time)
5 more sleeps....I can't sleep:banana:

You can add hoppers to a one day ticket. It would be silly for Disney to disallow it, one day admission for them now turns into $79(day entry) + $52(hopper) = $131.

You are probably getting confused with the rule that you can't use a multi-day ticket to go to more than one park per day (two parks days to go to 2 parks).

ok, now that I have established that I will be tipping housekeeping, or mousekeeping I'm told it's called, now I need to know WHERE do I leave the tip for them??
thanks again!!

As Ted said, leaving the tip on the pillow is a good idea, that's what we do as well.

Here is a link to some really nice Mousekeeping tip envelopes.

Feb 14th to March 2nd :)

We move over to ASMusic from Cypress Pointe Resort on the 21st -- great deal with a pin code (and that was the deciding factor in adding an extra 5 days to the trip)

Thanks for the correction on the 1 day hopper. I seriously thought there was a time when you couldn't do this. Memory's getting faulty in my old age.

Leaving today......... HOPEFULLY!!!!!

Snow storm is reaking havoc for sure, but so far, it looks like we will be ok. Many flights going to New York, Newark, etc, have departed. We are scheduled to leave this afternoon, connecting in Newark.

Keeping fingers crossed!!! :woohoo:

two days! Ah...so much to do still!! Hoping for a good driving weather :) Love to see the 70's being forecasted
