does anyone know why the don't want Canadians for timeshare presentatons? We have done them before, but never booked one in advance. There was never any problem with being a Canadian, when booking one While in Orlando, but when trying to book one in advance, they say you have to be a US citizen or permanent residet. Any views on this subject? Also, has anayone every used Easyclick travel to book a room?

I think, they think you are less likely to buy if you are Canadian. (what do they know, eh?)

It also might has something to do with rules and regulations on giving away "freebies" to non-US people........but that one I just guessing.

We used to get great offers when we lived in the States and took advantage a couple of times - but never bought.

There are rules about giving stuff away, and some other legal issues as we weren't allowed to take any timeshare tours while on our honeymoon in Hawaii. Never tried in Florida as we belong to DVC - which there is no problem with purchasing as Canadians because they don't give you any gifts, plus, they have permission to sell to Canadians in specific provinces (don't quote me on exact legalities here) and they cover all fees regardless of what country of residence.

Good luck finding out the answer to this one, but if they don't allow it, there isn't much you can do about it except take a tour of DVC and you won't be sorry you did that!!

Like Tiger 926 said, not all provinces permit timeshare licensing..and the population base here just won't support the numbers game that the companies need...lots of people in Ontario, more to travel to their destination, so the company feels it's money well spent for licensing - in Ontario...and, IIRC, it is up to each company individually to apply for the ok to do business in that province.

We can't add-on to our DVC contract through Disney Vacation Development. We have to physically be present in Fla to do so - because we're residents of NS...and DisneyVD isn't licensed here..even though we are already members.

Resales, no problem...but obviously, you can't get the great Stay and Tour deals..

There are a few places that you can book with though...you just have to read the fine print on their site, or call them to find out if you can book their promotion.

HTH!

I have never had any problems booking guests on TS Promo's at Hilton Grand Vacation Club. They get a great Disney Vacation for peanuts and have to do a 90 minute tour and presentation.

Do you know what site I colud find this on or a phone number?

Thanks

We were at Orlando this November and went to 2 presentations. One was for Sunterra Properties (Polynesian Isles Resort) and the other was for Club Navigo (Liki Tiki Village). In an attempt to avoid the presentation we told them we were Canadian - but they didn't care. Adversely, my brother in law was in Hawaii at the same time in November and they did not want Canadians to come to the presentations? Go figure.

In my opinion, you are better off always being a prospective buyer than an actual owner, because you will always get the nicer rooms if they are trying to sell you something. We used a "get-away" deal from my brother in laws Interval International membership and stayed in beautiful rooms for $60/night. That's the same price we paid for a KOA cabin last summer that was only about 100 sq. ft.

onmedic,
would you also mind sharing that telephone number and or web site with me?
We are looking for a very inexpensive week mid-Dec.
Thank you

It all depends on time of year and the resort if they tour Canadians. We tour every year some but cannot as much as in past. The decrease in tours was that stats showed number of Canadians that purchased (because of high exchange making it very expensive) were proportionally much lower than other areas. They also do not tour you if you are from Quebec. I think it is because they think everyone in Quebec speak only French, but it may be other laws.
If you stay at a timeshare like us (we rent them) you are always asked to take a tour and get the tickets or cash.
If you want to go on a tour just check at various spots as some booths only have one or two properties.
We have not paid (using our money) for a theme park or dinner show in the last 10 years and always go to the presentations to get them. Easy money in my book but I know many feel intimidated. I don't. I just tell I would never buy as I can rent them cheaper than I would be paying just for Maint. and taxes. (This true). So why would I buy. We love staying in them.
