Finally received a response to my email regarding no more MyPoint bonus mail opportunities. Here is my response - add MyPoints to the very long list of companies who shaft us Canadians in regards to the Internet. Very disappointing!

"Thank you for contacting MyPoints Member Care.

In response to our Canadian members complaints, we have recently upgraded our system to only send our Canadian members offers that they can take advantage of. We filter offers so that all offers coming your way are available in Canada. We are currently working with merchants in Canada so that we can present our Canadian members with more offers. You are set to receive offers and your account is active. Please make sure
that your email provider is not blocking Mypoints Bonusmails by
contacting their customer service. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Have a great day.

Best regards,

MyPoints Member Care"

Since I have received one email in 6 weeks, I guess MyPoints is pretty much a bust for the next little while, if not permanently. I don't have a lot of faith in the the fact that they are going to be able to present many offers that are available to Canadians. It's amazing to me that many Internet merchants don't find my American Express Platinum Credit Card as good as those belonging to US customers. Very frustrating!

That stinks... That would explain I haven't received any e-mail from them lately. The only points I have been earning lately are from surveys. :(

I think I've posted on this before.... unfortunately search has been disabled... anyway, i noticed this issue before with Mypoints, so I ended up changing my profile address to a made-up American one. I also changed my "interests" to everything on the list, so that I will receive a broad range of emails. Long story short - I now get all the regular bonus emails, and click on them even if they say US only. Also, with the US address in my profile, I get to see all the banners and things to click on instead of a very blank screen with only "giftcertificates.ca" and stuff like that.

PM me if you have questions...

Yes I did read your post, but I don't remember you saying if you contacted MyPoints about it, so I wanted to post the actual response they sent me. That sounds like a good idea in regards to changing your profile, but what about when ordering redemption awards? Do you then change your profile back to your correct address, etc... I'd be interested in knowing how this is working for you.

Thanks, Tiger

P.S. I know you said to PM you, but there are probably other Canadians interested in knowing how this is working for you, so if you could post more info, that would be great!

Hi Tiger,

Thanks for posting what you received from Mypoints. I didn't contact them - I sorta just figured out that they had changed things to be less Canadian-friendly, so I tried changing my address, and that all worked out fine.

When ordering rewards - I have basically stuck to ordering from www.giftcertificates.ca - the $25 gc's for 2675 Points. Mypoints sends you a Giftpass number by email, which you then take to the gc site itself to redeem - and there, I just enter my regular address in order to have the gc sent. Since the award is sent by email, and the gc is sent through a separate company, i haven't had to change my profile address with Mypoints. I have now received three $25 gc's... I might add that Mypoints is pretty quick and www.giftcertificates.ca is SUPER FAST with shipping the actual gc.

I have tried in the past to order a gc or other reward, and I believe there is an option to send the reward to a shipping address that is different from the "billing address" that Mypoints has on file. However, many of the rewards are now only being sent to US addresses, so if you don't have a REAL US address, or that of a friend, it will be hard to receive those redemptions (which is primarily why I've stuck to the Cdn options.) For example, I wanted to order a US Olive garden gc (for my trip to WDW) and they would only ship to US addresses. I had them send it to a friend, but it never arrived. Who knows.

I hope that helps! I receive 1-3 bonus mails every day - the points do add up fast.
