I have a friend who is a travel agent, unfortunately, she is unable to handle reservations in Canadian funds. I am looking for recommendations for a Canadian TA specializing in cruising with good OBC/other perks.

I tried to go with the Canadian disney specialist travel agent I booked our WDW trips with but they don't offer OBC at all! Dreams Unlimited had no problem taking our credit card information. And they've been quick to answer questions as well.

Thanks, but this isn't for a Disney cruise. It's for a different cruise line, and they bill in Cdn funds, which complicates issues for US travel agents (and I don't want to do exchange which I will lose on).

I'm not sure which province you live in, but most of the larger travel companies, with offices across the country are pretty well versed with cruising.

I'd go online and look up a few that have offices near you. Then call and ask if they have a cruise specialist in their office. I always prefer to deal face to face with a TA, given the choice.

I was lucky, a few years ago, to be referred to my current TA by a friend. He's turned out to be an absolute jewel when it comes to our non-Disney travel. I actually followed him when he changed agencies.

As a former Travel Agent, I'd say that you go directly with the cruiseline, it gives you a lot more control over your booking. Most travel agents don't have any extra pull to get you OBC above and beyond what the cruiseline is giving you already. The exception to this is if the agency has a group on that ship or if they are having a special promotion with that particular line. In reality, you are talking about a $50 credit for a week long cruise, pretty rare to get much more unless you book a suite or a longer cruise.

If you are really bent on getting an OBC, look at the national chains, they do the most groups and no you don't have to even know the other people in the group.
