In the last few days, my DH has encouraged me to take my two kids for another trip to Disneyland (DD 21 and DS 16). As I just had a stem cell transplant in February, August is probably the earliest that we can reasonably plan the trip, and we're looking at the last week of August.
I was about to go ahead and buy three parkhoppers for Canadian residents when I checked the details and saw that they're not valid past May 23rd. Now I'm undecided whether to buy them at this price and hope to upgrade them at the ticket booths, which I've done before but know it's not guaranteed especially given the opening of SWGE, or buy the full price tickets and know that it'll work.
I'm a bit flummoxed with it all. Being a diehard Disneyland fanatic, I thought I had a handle on most things Disney, but the opening of SWGE is throwing all that I thought I knew out the window.
Hmph.
But I'm so excited we're going to Disneyland, regardless! ::yes::

If you know for sure you won't be going until Aug, I don't see the point in buying the CDN tickets knowing they will be expired by then. You won't save any money.

I would just buy tickets for Aug from Undercover Tourist.

Hah! Good point. I guess I'm not thinking clearly because I'm SO EXCITED!!!

Hard not to be excited about an upcoming trip to Disneyland! : )
I agree, I wouldn't be taking the risk of buying the tickets that have the expiry date of 23rd May.
You'll still save some money buying now (or later) from Undercover Tourist so I would just do that and know that I had the correct tickets for my visit date.

Wishing you a speedy recovery to 100% healthy!

Before you buy your tickets, just be aware that for the last week of August, you are probably looking at the non-peak schedule (i.e. shorter hours, less entertainment and nighttime entertainment on weekends only, less staffing, possible refurbs, etc.) and HM down for the NBC overlay. If you know this ahead of time, you'll be able to plan around it, rather than getting taken off guard. For the latest news, tips, and strategies regarding SWGE, keep watching this board -- especially after May 31st!
Pixie dust for a full and quick recovery!

Thank you for your good wishes and for the heads up. We went last August around the same time and enjoyed it, even with the time and attraction restrictions. It probably kept me from doing too much! I have concerns about the AP blockouts being lifted on the 19th and crowds due to SWGE, but we'll go without too many expectations. I just love being in Disneyland, regardless! It'll be healing for me!

Glad you're already familiar with that time of year in the parks. We get posts from people who make their plans for the end of summer assuming they'll get the full summer schedule, then are shocked when they don't. So I'm relieved you won't be in that group. And hooray for a return trip to your happy place -- that sounds like it will be very healing indeed!
