I'm in! Anyone know what time the Opening Ceremonies are?

We are going to an Opening Ceremonies Party on Friday. We have to wear either something from the country our families are from or Olympic gear. We are also having food from the host counrty. Should be fun!!

I looked in our TV listing.....I am thinking 6 or 7 ish.....anyone???

The Olympic schedule lists 6pm PST & our regional CTV coverage starts at 7pm EST and goes til 2am.

My kids and I will be watching the Olympic Torch go by our house on Wed. at lunch time. The excitement level in Vancouver is growing, the weather is balmy, mountains are green but the trucks full of snow are on their way!!

I can't wait! I LOVE the winter Olympics more than the summer ones! And my co-worker and dental hygienist are both Aunts of Ice Dancer Scott Moir from just outside of London ... I have huge high hopes that he and Tessa Virtue are going to bring us the Gold on home ice!

Hope that they are able to truck in enough snow for the events!

I sooooo love the Olympics.... one of my favourite Disney memeories was from 2004. It was our first trip to WDW. Perdita Fleciens )sp?) was running the hurdles.... well, if you recall, she hit the second or third hurdle. It was crushing but we were in the room, all "Disney tired" watching it at ASMo. It was crushing to watch but so connected to Disney for us.

It's a shame that while the song has become such a hit that the organizers haven't found a way to showcase her talent for the rest of the world ... maybe for the closing ceremonies?

I do recall that in '88 in Calgary that they made all kinds of accommodations for the closing ceremonies, based on what had happened through the games.

I've been watching the Torch Relay off and on all day.

OH WHAT A FEELING!

THe girl that is singing "I Believe" is Nicki Yanofksy. She is an amazing young lady who is from Montreal. You should hear her sing jazz. If I am right, that is what she started out singing. SHe has such a beautiful voice!

Forgot to ask ---does anyone know the date of the closing ceremonies????

Edited to add: Just found out the dates. We are going to miss the last four days of the Olympics. Going to have to make arrangements for it to be taped for us.

Years ago we were away during the Olympics (can't remember where we were). However, all we saw was the "American" athletes. It was like there were no other countries involved.

Too bad our Spring Break falls at the same time as the Olympics.
