Canadian eating at Le Cellier?

I forgot to mention when i posted earlier, we usually go to that area and keep bugging them as fellow canadians to bring back beavertails. I mentioned timmies once but they told us disney has a contract with nestles. But if anyone else is like us and misses beavertails mention to the staff they have input and can suggest what goes in the canadian area.
We enjoy going to disney when the wine and food festival is on and try different foods and wines from other countries, its that same at other times we live here we can eat canadian anytime.
Can anyone tell me if they have niagara wines on the list we heard at one time there werent any in the store now i think they have 1. We are from niagara on the lake and as i type this i look out my window and see a vineyard!!!!!

As a canadian have you eaten at Le Cellier? Or do you prefer to try food from other countries?

Both!:thumbsup2

On each trip, we eat at Le Cellier twice (my husbands favourite). But we definitely do eat at the other countries. For each trip, we also dine at Teppan Edo twice (since it's my absolute favourite and since the last vacation, it is also my son's favourite), Akershus (since my daughter loves the Princess), Nine Dragons (love the food), and Chef de France (also great food). We would like to try Tokyo Dining and Bistro de Paris, someday.

Otherwise, the other restaurants in the WS do not appeal to us.

Wow, thanks for all of the great replies everybody. I think I will go ahead and try to get a ressie for Le Cellier.

Thanks!

I keep hearing a lot about Le Cellier so maybe I'll have to give in and try it next trip. Can anyone compare it to The Yachtsman? DF and I really like the food and atmosphere there.

We thought we might put this on our itinerary for June but hubby thought we could go to the KEG and get a comparable meal for loads of $$ less....:)

It's more expensive than The Keg? Wow ...

The Mushroom filet with the wild mushroom risotto is so good. Just the perfect amount of meat. It is pricey but when we purchase the Dining Plan, we always try to eat here.

Just an FYI. The "Canadian" ingredient in the cheddar cheese soup is the Moosehead beer. I make the Le Cellier soup recipe at home. It rocks!

Also, PEI mussels are definitely Canadian.

A Caesar, which is sold here, is vodka and Clamato juice. As far as I know, this is the only place you can buy one in the parks. Other Dis restaurants sell Bloody Mary's (with tomato juice).

I don't see what the big deal about being Canadian and eating at la Cellier, steak is a steak, I can never tell the different between a "Canadian" restaurant and a "American" restaurant. Especially a "Canadian" restaruant run by an American company in America serving steak like "NY strip steak" :rotfl2: I will go anywhere to eat as long as they serve good food.

but on the other hand, I will never eat at Nine Dragons - maybe because I'm Chinese and I know what real Chinese food taste like. :rotfl:

We have been to Le Cellier 3 times. Love it. We love how small it is. We dont do the keg at home. When we go to Disney we have been so many times that we try to go and do favourites and Le Cellier has been there a few times. Love the Pretzel bread. Infact our server gave us extra to take away with us last year during Food and Wine.
Im not a fan of Beer so I have not tried the soup, but DH loves it.

For us, we don't eat at resturants like Le Cellier at home. For us its a nice little spot with really good food.

Can't even taste the beer in the soup...I had no idea there was any in there until I followed the recipe and made at home and then, it's something like a tablespoon for a whole pot. The soup is the best part of Le Cellier..lol...

I enjoyed the Foor & Wine Festival last year..that was some nice food tastings...:thumbsup2

I should mention that all the beef served at Le Cellier is Australian not Canadian. Tasted fine, though, and that's coming from an Alberta beef snob.:)

Hey, I think that is a very valid point...so is the fact that steak and cheddar soup and pretzel bread aren't especially canadian.

I'm looking forward to eating her now though after reading this thread. :)

I love this restaurant. Probably my favorite restaurant on property. The food has always been amazing and the servers are awesome, especially if you mention where you're from. Only slightly bad experience I've had there was on my last visit. We were there for my 21st birthday and one of my friends mentioned we were Canadian. This is pretty much what followed:
server: so where are you guys from?
my friends answered, and I said "I'm from Toronto"
server: no, where are you REALLY from?
me: Toronto...?
server: no, like what town are you really from? nobody that says they're from Toronto is from Toronto.
me: Um, I live 15 minutes from the Eaton Centre, how much more Toronto can I get?
server: oh.

I can understand maybe the first time they asked where I was "really" from, but really, I'm from Toronto, born & raised. Please don't try to tell me I'm not... Other than that the meal was amazing though, the servers really went above and beyond for my group after that exchange as well.

Which recipe do you use? I tried making it once from a recipe I found on a Disney site...it slightly resembled Le Cellier's soup, but I didn't like it and it was really hard to make!

Had the Cheddar Cheese soup at Le Cellier yesterday...it is better than I remember ...bliss

I do find it is a lot saltier than when I make at home though...

:confused3

We love it there! Yumm Yumm Yumm :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I am hoping if we go in Sept we can eat there again!

but on the other hand, I will never eat at Nine Dragons - maybe because I'm Chinese and I know what real Chinese food taste like. :rotfl:

lol hubby and I have been reluctant to eat at Nine Dragons too... he is from HK, while I am Canadian I still just get that "I don't know.... is it good?" worrying question. He has said, we won't know until we try and we are willing to try other restaurants in Epcot. Maybe one day we'll give it a go. :thumbsup2

We ate there last year and it didn't do much for me. I found the food was way too salty to the point where salt was the only thing I tasted.

I keep hearing positive things about it so we booked it again for this year...I'll give it one more chance and if we don't enjoy it again this time it's off our list!

Epcot and Le Cellier are where we must go when at WDW. It's because we are Canadian that we have to make the patriotic stop. :thumbsup2

The plus is that the food at Le Cellier is actually GOOD, and the service is excellent. Also love their ritual of singing the Canadian anthem when they open.

There is one thing I do avoid at Epcot...that's Nine Dragons. Like a previous poster, I can't bring myself to eat that kind of westernized Chinese food. Being from HK and living in Richmond (where world-class HK chefs immigrate to), I'm scared of western-style Chinese food that's deep fried and covered in some goopy sauce or coated in soy sauce and then being given a fortune cookie. But my DH from Maple Creek, Sask., insists that we need to try it at least once...so maybe next trip. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised :)

Eat there if you can.
Food was awesome and they have Molson Canadian :) which is nice after walking around the parks in September

Sorry it took so long to answer. We are actually currently at Disney staying at AKL until tomorrow when we switch to an off-site 4 bedroom villa (can't wait).

The recipe I use is http://www.allearsnet.com/din/rec_ched.htm. We ate at Le Cellier twice this week (pigs). Once as reserved seating and once (last night) as a walk up (hubby insisted on going back). Oddly enough, I didn't like the cheddar cheese soup as much as I did 2 years ago when I had it. It seems different now. Not bad, just different. I like the recipe from allears better. Two things I do when I make the recipe are 1) Cut off all of the fat from the bacon that I can before cooking it very crisp and separately from everything else; and 2) Not adding the cheddar cheese and bacon until you are going to serve the soup, as in very last minute.

I wish I knew how to make the pretzel bread. Dear lord that is good. Also, we both had the filet mignon with mushroom risotto both nights which is TO DIE FOR. Our server the first night was Brandon from Sault Ste. Marie. He was probably the best server we've ever had.

We also ate at Boma, once for breakfast and once for dinner. It was our first breakfast at Boma and we were totally underwhelmed by it. Especially after the raving reviews. We have eaten here at dinner before, which is why we decided to go back, and we were, again, totally underwhelmed unlike last time. I guess it's hit and miss.

Today we ate at Sci Fi and actually we were surprised that we liked it. Another walk up. I got the reuben and onion rings which were very good. My son got the oreo cookie milkshake which was basically oreo cookie ice cream.

On another note, the weather this week SUCKS. It has rained non-stop for the last two days. Oh well, at least we aren't working.

Le Cellier is really nice. We were there on our second last trip to WDW. We found both the food and service quite good. On our last trip we wanted to try other restaurants in Epcot--DH selected the Cantina de San Angel. It had a very nice atmosphere, but we can get much better Mexican food in Ontario!
