Canadian DVC Resale

I just finished a meeting with the Disney DVC agent and found out that because of real estate laws we cannot buy DVC from our home province but have to purchase it while in Florida. This seems to be pretty common knowledge. Ontario and Alberta residences are the exception to this rule.

My Question is do the same restrictions apply when buying a DVC resale? We live in PEI.

No, resale purchases do have such restrictions.

In order for DVC to sell directly to a buyer, they need to be registered in that State/Province. Otherwise, they can only deal with someone while they are physically at WDW (or one of their other sames offices). This restriction is due to Timeshare sales laws.

Resale purchases are not goverened by the same laws since those sales are between parties and not restricted by Timeshare laws (except for possible rescision laws for real estate transactions).

You may contact any of the resale brokers or deal directly with a seller to purchase a DVC contract.
