Hey Everyone, the Canadian dollar is sitting at almost $0.98. If you're leaving soon, now might be the time to make that final payment for your cruise/Disney trip and to get that cash out of the bank before it drops again. :)

:headache:

I am one of the few that does not consider this good news!!!!!

You can thank me for the dollar going up this week. After watching and fretting over the dollar for the last month I finally had to pay last Friday. Now I see it go up and up. GRRRRRRRrrrrrr.:headache:

Although I am quite happy when I go to the States and the dollar is near par, I would rather see it at .90 - .92 cents. Its good for the economy. Previous goverments whose economic policies had our dollar in the .65 cent range made us prisoners in our own country

My final payment is due October 14th. I am just trying to decide if I should wait a bit longer and see if it keeps going up. I would love to see parity. Am I just fooling myself?

Ours is due October 17th! We too are hoping to see the dollar at par. A percent change in the exchange rate means about $25 to us, so we'll likely pay our balance off once the actual exchange rate on the credit card hits around 97-98 cents.

What is the difference in exchange rates that most credit card companies charge?

We are not going until December but I am afraid of it dropping so I am going to get some this week. Payment for the house we rented is due mid October. I transfer funds through PayPal and they are always a bit behind the banks in exchange rates so I hope it keeps going up....up... and up!!!!

Most Canadian credit cards mark-up the exchange rate around 2.5%.

For our upcoming cruise, I'll probably pay the balance in $500 chunks over the course of a couple months to even out the ups and downs of exchange rates.

Well, my as well turn lemons into lemonade and do a little shopping! Target and Kohl's here I come!:cool1:

That's what we're doing too. Did a payment yesterday and have one $500 payment to make before Sept 27. Hoping it gets higher before then, but I could not take the chance yesterday. My visa gets processed today so the payments are split between statements.

Since the CDN $$ has been hovering at or slightly below par I thought it was time to bring this thread back to life. I recently changed 500 CDN $'s into US which cost me $509.00 :woohoo::woohoo:
