Canadian dollar nosedive

Our trip was paid off a few months ago, and we have about $1800 CAD in Disney GC's that I got through the airmiles cash/shoppers points (use for groceries, take grocery $ for trip). So although I see the value going down, I have to remember it was "free" gift cards, so that helps.
If we go....who knows....we'll take advantage of the 2 checked bags free from SW and pack a lot of snacks and dried goods for the condo so we have to buy less there. I find prices on things like cereal, granola bars, etc. ridiculous down there.

Thankfully our whole trip was paid for last year, and we already have a good amount of $USD we got well before this week to use cash as much as possible while down there.

Yeah, my flights and trip are paid for thankfully as well. But I'm kicking myself for not exchanging the CAD cash I have on hand for my trip earlier. Unless they announce they won't accept cash right now due to Coronavirus! :P I'm surprised they're still using the fingerprint readers! lol

Same! I'm guessing they have the hand sanitizer stations set up though. Scan, then sanitize!

If they remember to refill them! I've been hearing the soap in the bathrooms and sanitizing stations haven't been getting refilled regularly. But that could be someone trying to fear monger. You can't escape it!! Ughh. Bring your own sanitizer! lol

Actually with gas prices dropping in the US as well (we drive south), the money saved on fuel (even with the lousy exchange) will probably make up for meals and incidentals. Five to six tanks worth of savings add up. The rest of the trip was paid for months ago.

True. We will only have 3 tanks for our trip, so not as much difference, but, that is still a good point.

I went yesterday afternoon and bought enough disney gift cards to pay for our whole august trip. I made sure to imput them before 6:30(approx) deadline when they change the fx rate. I put in the gift cards at 4:30 and received the exchange rate before the drop. 1.34 exchange rate and now it is almost 1.38. Saved us over $250. While I don't expect the bottom to fall out, I do think it is less likely that our dollar increases then decreases.

OMG, just checked my gift cards values and they seriously dropped again! The $767 US ($1000 CDN) card is now $729 US!

I will be buying our Candlelight Processional dining package whenever they get released (July?) so as long as I have enough for that at that time, I'm praying the dollar comes back up!

I keep reminding myself that all this has been "free" through PC Optimum points and not cash from my pocket...ish.

I need to buy 4 annual passes at least 60 days before our July trip. Ugh. (Hopefully there will still be a July trip!)
