We've been to Disney twice and both times we have stayed off property and I made all my own arrangements.
This time, we'd like to stay on property and I would love the help of an agent.
Could someone refer me to an agent in Ontario that could help me?
Thanks!

We've used Fairytale Dreams before: http://www.fairytaledestinations.com

Worked with Laura both times and have nothing but good things to say. No pressure on booking; they deal with Westjet but were more than happy to let us book our own flights and sync up the Magic Express.

No need for "One" agent you have a whole Canadian Discussion Board at your disposal. Lots of people willing to chime in and help you when you need it, steer you in a proper direction if you want to do the investigation yourself.

Start a thread with a few of your basics, when, how many people, resort level you think you'd like etc. The folks who hang out here have a wealth of information to share.

We use Dreams Unlimited Travel. ( they also are owners of these boards) They are really knowledgable and are great with Canadians.
That's true, any of the online agencies dedicated to Disney vacations are great and deal will people from many places.
I haven't used a Canadian agency, but I would imagine the big advantage would be billing in Canadian funds. So not having to pay those foreign exchange rates on your cc each time you make a payment.

Lol ..I've been over 100x which makes me certifiably crazy and I am an agent but not allowed to say that here! Yikes.

I have also been interested in finding a Canadian agent who sends out updates about special Canadian deals and discounts. The board here is great, but it is not always easy to stay up to date on things like Cdn free dining promos.

No idea where in Ontario you live but;

Canadians get the same discounts and promotions Americans do. It has only been recently that Disney has offered a Canadian specific special for WDW/DLR. There has been for DCL previously but I haven't seen one advertised in awhile.
If you want a brick-and-mortar agency, the Goliger's chain of agencies tend to have a Disney specialist if not a completely earmarked agent. And if you life in/around Hamilton the Flightcentre at Limeridge has an earmarked agent.

If you are comfortable going online. Just use Tracey from Dreams. She is an Ontarian. And for comfort remember that Dreams does not collect payment and pass it on to Disney. They facilitate Disney charging you. So if in the extremely unlikely event something happens to Dreams. Disney has your money and your reservation is protected.

I've been in the travel business all of my life ...
What is an 'earmarked agent or Disney specialist'?

Actually, Canadians sometimes get slightly better terms on the typical US discounts..and this has been true since I started going to WDW in 2009.

Back then, most years we were able to book free dining the year before. I remember booking free dining in Nov/Dec for the following summer. Americans couldn't book until the spring. Haven't heard of this in the last few years though. Our free dining dates also are often an extra week or two longer. I think last year Canadian free dining started in mid August whereas Americans could only book from the 3rd week of August onwards (or was that the year before? I am a little hazy as my trip last year was during March break).

It tends to be very small things that don't make a big splash which is why I am hoping for a Cdn TA who stays informed on these types of things and sends out regular updates to keep me informed. Haven't really found a solid one yet so have been continuing to use my American TA.

With regards to free dining the only thing I noticed last year was that there seemed to be space in the promotion just for Canadian bookings. It wasn't available when I wasn't logged in to MDE but was after I logged in.

Earmarked just means that the agent/agency is Disney authorized, meets Disney standards of operation etc. A Disney specialist is just an agent that focuses on booking WDW/DLR/DCL vacations. When I was an agent (recently left) the agency I worked at was a Disney Authorized Vacation Planner. Two of the ladies I worked with had workloads that were 80% plus Disney. I specialized in custom vacations.

I see. I just assume that to be standard agency practice.
Our Disney Sales Manager visits maybe twice a month , just never heard the term.
We all book Disney in our location with myself being known as the Disney Queen lol ..but not only Disney.
All components of travel. My personal business is perhaps 50% Disney land / cruises ..it's a good mix for me.

We like to take advantage of the knowledge of our Disney Specialist at CAA. She is a Disney Freak like me and being in her business is able to take MANY trips to the Magic Kingdom (Walt Disney World as a whole). I am sure if you see a Disney poster with Disney Authorized Vacation Planner mentioned you can deal with pretty well any travel agent. Word of mouth around your home is the best referrals you'll find. Good luck and have fun.
