Canadian Currency exchange question

A funny- when we went to NF a couple years ago (Canadian side), we were trying to get a Coke from a machine at one of the trolley stops. We went through multiple attempts having our $1 and $2 coins kicked back, tried a $5 bill, etc. Wouldn't take any of them. DD joked we should use American money. Sure enough, machine took that and gave us a Coke (finally!)

When we travel abroad or back to Canada we only use our ATM cards - BUT check with your bank to see what their foreign exchange fee is. Our credit union doesn't charge one, but the credit card companies all do!

All credit cards do not charge a foreign transaction fee. For example, Capitol One cards do not.
