Canadian Buffoon's Hi Low Vacation - South Central Musings

After a long **** day at work, I'm reading the Dis-chuckling. I then notice the time, calculate the time difference, and have a brief wave of jealousy - you are in your last bit of wonderful sleep before going to WDW. I want to go. I'll stop my whining now.

Hope you have a fantastic trip! Hopefully the new card arrived.

Are you at the airport yet? Hope
you have a magical time. Wishing for a ground floor room for you!

I said I'd check in
before I left
or at the Winnipeg airport.

Guess I lied.
Since that ain't
gonna happen.

I dunno about the rest of you,
but I have trouble DISing
when the DIS is down.

At least now I know
if the first leg is on time,
if they stamp my passport
and what my expression is.

Next stop...
Nirvana.

See you on the flip side!

So here's the itinerary.
I fly down to Disney on Wednesday.
Fly back on Sunday.
Gather up Ruby, then fly to Edmonton, AB
on Monday.
Grab a car and see the Rockies.
Back on Saturday.

I'll wave as you're coming in to land in Edmonton

Also - are you just doing Banff? I think it's beautiful there, but it's way too busy for my liking. If you want the beauty of the mountains, without the insane tourists - I'd recommend Jasper if you want to be in the National Park, or Kananaskis if you're ok with being on the edge of the Rockies but saving on National Park Fees :)

WestJet Airlines for the flights...

I was going to write "Is there even another airline in Canada?!" but actually I flew with New Leaf last week (oddly enough, to Winnipeg) and it wasn't terrible! It's a low cost airline, so you need to be aware of everything (oh, you need your boarding pass printed once you get to the airport because you didn't load it onto your phone? $10 please.) For a return trip from Edmonton to Winnipeg, with a checked bag both ways and paying a bit extra to reserve the front seat both ways came to $262 after taxes and fees. It's nice to have another option in this country, and it's an airline that doesn't start with Air and end with Canada...

1. What time is my flight out of Winnipeg?
Hint: I connect in Toronto and plan to (hopefully)
hit a park the same day.

5:15am

2. Two flights. Winnipeg/Toronto, Toronto/MCO.
On time? Delayed? One of each?

Winnipeg flight - on time
Toronto flight - delayed, because it's Toronto and I rarely have a flight from there leave on time.

3. I'll be clearing customs in Toronto.
This is always fun.... 50/50. Does my passport
get stamped?
Bonus points if you know the expression on my face.

No stamp. I've never got one in Toronto before.

4. When I finally arrive at the resort...
Where is it? (Yes it's on property.)
Hint: I'm squeezing pennies, remember?

Pop

5. So I get there. I go to a park. Which one?

Epcot for some food and wine kiosks!

6. I don't know if I'll do a transportation game or not.
But just in case... how long do I wait for transportation
to and from the park.

You won't be catching the bus during a normal "busy" time, so it will be a little slower. In total, I'd guess 13 minutes

We could secure the borders from a man infiltration by posting our favorite park shoes and then move onto park bags and purses. Following that, we can discuss our swimsuit purchasing woes.

Then if you have time, swing by my thread- I need any advice on F&W strats you can give! What are your faves? And how did you tour?? (like my shameless plug? ;) )

I already have pictures of many of my Dooney purses already uploaded to photobucket, as I have posted them in various Trip Report! :hyper:

I am planning on swinging by your thread to give you some thoughts, this being your first time at F&W, you are doing a lot of what I did my first time.

I'll swing by, but I've never done F&W so I won't be any help.
As far as bags go, I love them all, but don't own any yet. I mentioned buying a cute Disney park bag to my DH and his thoughts were what's wrong with the backpack we've got?
Anyway, quick question, do you think we'll need jackets in November?

Thought I would check in on what ol' pkondzi has been up to and lo, he has started a new TR. Thought I might chime in again, and see if I can keep up this time...

Toasty.
Those aren't long johns. At least not when we were kids. Baggy, itchy, uncomfortable:

Whoa, that picture wasn't nearly so big when I pasted it!

I'm married to a wonderful woman named Ruby.
You'll get to know her a bit better later on.
I have already had the pleasure.
Still wondering what she's doin' with a guy like you...:rolleyes1

Elle (DD19) is attending University.
She has money to pay for it through
work, and money her completely
awesome parents saved up for her.

This morning, I decide to check
my credit card
to see if the bill has gone through.
Yep. There it is.
Along with about eight cash withdrawals.
For about $25 each.
(with accompanying $5 cash advance fees)
For a total of just over $270.
In Ukrainian hryvnias. (No idea. It's their money.)
Okay, so Elle is in International Studies and was getting an early start on homework...
DS just survived frosh week for Engineering. Better go check my card (he has an AU card on mine). I might have a few foreign currency transactions too... No WONDER he was out until 4:00 am every night!

Hmm, later in the afternoon, you're hungry, and you'll want an evening show.
Epcot.

But just in case... how long do I wait for transportation
to and from the park.
12 and 6
Won't you join me?
Dude, I think I already did...

2. I think you are going to get lucky and ALL flights will be on time!
Is that line missing a comma? It is? Don't tell Ruby...

I AM FREAKING OUT.
WHERE'S MY CARD!?!?!?
WHERE'S MY CARD?????

You remember where the Bank(e)r comes from....
Bwahahaha!!

I go away and....
Shoes?? Bags???

:sad2:

Guess who I saw tonight!!!

Don't mind me.
Carry on.

I'll swing by, but I've never done F&W so I won't be any help.

Anyway, quick question, do you think we'll need jackets in November?

The last time we were there in late Fall/Winter, we froze our butts off. The nights were SO cold, and we spend about 4 billion dollars on sweatshirts. I'd definitely say take at LEAST light jackets for sure. You can always tie them around your waists, or worst case scenario, get a locker.

Heck. I drove to Cleveland...
From
Winnipeg.

Just for Carrie.
Lies! All lies!

I forgot this question. No stamp and you look constipated.

I wear Crocs or Sketchers, I use a Vera Bradley and I have an Eeyore suit.

Was it Mickey?

Did you see Mickey?

My Keens are getting more comfy everyday. I think I WILL take them! At first I read that as your Vera Bra. :rotfl2:I need to stop skimming.
