Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

But if you're feeling hungry, you might want to try Vern's.
(7 locations in Central Canada. One in Winnipeg.)
They take a pizza and pile it higher than any other that I've seen.
Here's a pic I found on Google.
(And no. It's not for the meek. Or if you have a heart condition.)

Wow! That is unlike any pizza I've ever seen. Amazing! Looks like I may have to make a trip to Winnipeg for some pizza!

The question was obvious... not the answer!
We're at the bus stop going somewhere,
so the obvious question to ask is "Where are we going?"

See? It's obvious now isn't it?

:sad2::magnify: Not so much...still searching for the obvious....

The reason we took a boat from one end of World Showcase
and then walked across the bridge
and then the length of Future World
and then all the way out to the bus stops
instead of strolling over and taking a leisurely boat trip to DHS is....

Ready?

I forgot.

See? Obvious.

.

:cold: Excuse me sir, your age is showing. I have that CRS disease too. :P

It happened so quickly, they were by us (and others) in a flash.
Wait... Oh, for the love of Pete!
This is the single rider line!
There's no "joining" people.
There shouldn't be any people to join!

I must admit. I was a little ticked.

Kay asked "Why did you let those people cut in front of us?
You were the one who told me you wouldn't let people do that."
I didn't really have an answer except to say that I got taken by surprise.

Oh I hate that! The nerve of those guys

The words were no sooner out of his mouth
when I replied: "Don't worry. They'll wait for you."
And with that, I turned my back on him,

Awesome! Totally awesome! You're my hero

I whipped out my... settle down ladies.
Sheesh.

giphy.gif

Can I take my shoes off?" Kay asked.
"Sure. We have plenty of time." I said. "Do you want me to rub your feet?"

Now that a good man right there.

She gathered up her belongings and pushed the stroller ahead of her.
I glanced over a minute later and they were standing,
a little ways off, holding each other.
They came back and, while still beat looking, seemed happier.

:sad1: Unfortunately I think this happens more often than not. So much stress to have a perfect vacation. I have to admit I've been guilty of the hangry ourbust myself. Note to self...be happy and grateful at all times

But we were lucky with the weather.
It didn't affect us at all.

You trickster

I had never had a...

Churro.

Go ahead! Tell me you can't believe it either!
I'll even give you bonus points for it.

I knew there was a cart not far
from where we wanted to go.
So we made a slight detour and...

I can't believe it!!! Actually I can believe it, I've never had a churro either :rolleyes1

Tony's!

Now I know Tony's doesn't get a lot of love,
but I had a reason for

Oh man! I should have known! I think I guessed this earlier in the game.

Every once in a while,
a tall man would come and stand in front of us.
We'd move a bit... okay we can see.
He'd move.
We'd move some more.
He'd move again.

Oy, the woes of being vertically challenged. I'm 5'3, I know all about this.

We trudged wearily towards the bus stop.
"Dad!" Kay suddenly blurts out. "We forgot my paw prints!"

Oh... shoot!

No!!!!! :scared1:

You can just see a bit of it in the top left corner of the picture.
Notice how it blends right into the tablecloth?

I can totally see how you missed it!

It finally arrived at 10:27pm.
Three minutes! Unbelievable

Obviously your VIP package is turning into a pumpkin

If anyone's going to the World in the next little bit,
would it be too much to ask one of you to pick
up a napkin from Tony's with Lady & The Tramp's
paw prints on it?

It would be my pleasure to pick this up for you! I'm not going until June but if you haven't received at least 5 of them by then I'd be delighted. Keep me posted. I mean, I'd be happy to pay the postage

1. What time do we get

1:30am

2. Do we sleep on the plane?
Me? Kay? Both? Neither?

I think Kay slept but you didn't. From what I've read you're pretty adept at staying awake with minimal sleep.

3. Do we have issues at customs?

No

Which takes longer in Toronto (our connection.)
Security? Or customs?

Security

5. Which came first. Our bags or Ruby to pick us up?

Ruby was there first

I have a griddle/flat top grill which I use from time to time.
This isn't my house, but it's the same one I have.

sb-louisville-kitchen-redo-02-20-2015-13.jpg

Paging through so many comment pages I spotted this baby. So jealous!!

Nope.
The right draft is at work.
And has been the whole time.

:sad2:

I'm an idiot.

grohl.gif

:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

Wow. I could never eat that but my boys would go nuts over it. Must know more about this chef. ::yes::

We soon arrived at our destination, disembarked,
scanned fingers (Yep! Still no problems!)

Sure. It must be nice to have actual fingerprints. :rolleyes1

And it's extremely obvious (there's that word again)

means.jpg

I told her that line cutting was something that some people did at Disney.
And some people didn't take too kindly to it.

I was going to say that I'd never heard of such a thing.

"But wasn't she just trying to get up to her family?"
I told her that was probably the case.

Then I remembered all the times I witnessed it the last time we were there. :sad2:

I must admit. I was a little ticked.

A little ticked? I think I'd be about nuclear at that point.

Atomic_Bomb.gif

I didn't really have an answer except to say that I got taken by surprise.

Maybe it's true what they say about Canadians. ::yes::

There was no one there.

Stood my ground and didn't get beat up!
Win win!

Plus, I impressed Kay.
So, win win win!

:worship:

Every once in a while,
a tall man would come and stand in front of us.
We'd move a bit... okay we can see.
He'd move.
We'd move some more.
He'd move again.
"Dad. We had a great spot, now I can't even see most of the castle."

That makes me crazy. Why do people just think they should be able to stand where you're standing? Ever hear of personal space??

1. What time do we get up?

2. Do we sleep on the plane?
Me? Kay? Both? Neither?

3. Do we have issues at customs?

4. Which takes longer in Toronto (our connection.)
Security? Or customs?

5. Which came first. Our bags or Ruby to pick us up?

4:30, Both, No issues, Security, Ruby.

My feet are sympathy aching just reading along. Sore feet =

This first cropped up in Paris when we were there.
It hasn't gotten much better.

Maybe I should take her to a podiatrist...

Father of the year award for foot rubs!

:goodvibes

Mmmm, looks really good on this -31C day here.

You too, huh?
I really enjoyed sitting in a freezing car on the way to work this morning.
It's warmed up quite a bit though. -20C right now.

Hopefully what I thaw from the freezer today is spaghetti sauce, but it might be chili.

1. 1:55
2. You - yes Kay - no
3. No issues - VIP package, after all
4. Customs (as usual, limited staff. Because who at an airport plans for planes with passengers?)
5. Ruby, because she missed you both!

Noted.

Wow, that is a ridiculous amount of meat on that pizza...reminds me of the meat lovers' my DH likes and calls it "African Lion Safari" pizza lol

It is not for the vegans out there.

I am not one.

I like that... African Lion Safari pizza...

The best ride of course.

Of course!

Spoken like a true Canuck.

::yes::

That actually looked pretty good!

I think she finished it!
I didn't hear any complaints about it!

1) I always, almost reflex- like, move aside and let folks through, I assume there's a good reason for them to go to the front. Then, it hits me later, heeeyyyyy, that guy just totally cut in front of me! You're Canadian, you're nice....I have no reason other than I'm gullible. :daisy:

 I don't think it's the politeness any more than a reflex.
But still... It's a single rider line!!! :headache:

2). YAY for stopping that last line cutter! I don't think I'd have the nerve, but I'm glad you did!

I'm glad too!

Now let's everybody do it and we can solve this problem!!

Hello?

Anyone??

And, YAy for not getting beaten up! :crutches:

I was actually pretty pleased about that part too.

3). You rubbed her feet, awwwwww! Good dad. :cloud9:

She was pretty sore. Glad I could help a bit.

Thanks for taking us along!

You're welcome! :goodvibes:

I'll have one more chapter to get us back home,
and then it looks like I'll be starting up the Maui portion if you're interested.

Wow! That is unlike any pizza I've ever seen. Amazing! Looks like I may have to make a trip to Winnipeg for some pizza!

Well, you know... Colorado isn't that far away...
Just sayin'.

:sad2::magnify: Not so much...still searching for the obvious....

:cold: Excuse me sir, your age is showing. I have that CRS disease too. :P

Unfortunately, I'm afraid... uh... What were we talking about again?

Oh I hate that! The nerve of those guys

I was ticked!!
But the worst part was when Kay turned to me and asked why I let them through!

Awesome! Totally awesome! You're my hero

:goodvibes

I believe this is exactly how you reacted.

Exactly.

Now that a good man right there.

Awww..... shucks.

:sad1: Unfortunately I think this happens more often than not. So much stress to have a perfect vacation. I have to admit I've been guilty of the hangry ourbust myself. Note to self...be happy and grateful at all times

Disney does that to you.
People have completely unrealistic hopes
and then are unhappy when it doesn't pan out.
Combine that with extreme heat, exhaustion and frustration...
Yeah.

I didn't judge them one little bit.
I didn't know them, but I sure gave them the benefit of the doubt!

You trickster

;)

I can't believe it!!! Actually I can believe it, I've never had a churro either :rolleyes1

I can't believe it!!

Oh man! I should have known! I think I guessed this earlier in the game.

 You peaked too soon!

Oy, the woes of being vertically challenged. I'm 5'3, I know all about this.

I don't know anyone who wouldn't have issues with a six foot tall man...
with an extra two feet of kid on top... who would be able to see!

:sad2: Unfortunately.

I can totally see how you missed it!

Blends right in, doesn't it?

Obviously your VIP package is turning into a pumpkin

:lmao: Yes! Time to get out before my dress turns into tatters.
(I really like that... think I might use that in my next update.)

It would be my pleasure to pick this up for you! I'm not going until June but if you haven't received at least 5 of them by then I'd be delighted. Keep me posted. I mean, I'd be happy to pay the postage

Thanks! I'll probably take you up on that offer unless a sooner one shows up.
I really appreciate it!! :goodvibes

1:30am

I think Kay slept but you didn't. From what I've read you're pretty adept at staying awake with minimal sleep.

Paging through so many comment pages I spotted this baby. So jealous!!

I love it!
We had an electric stove/oven for years until we moved.
I made sure I had a good cooktop!
The island was built around it.

:rotfl:

Wow. I could never eat that but my boys would go nuts over it. Must know more about this chef. ::yes::

Don't know the chef... but he must like meat!

Sure. It must be nice to have actual fingerprints. :rolleyes1

 Well... sure.
But a life of crime isn't that bad a substitute, is it?

:lmao: Perfect!

I was going to say that I'd never heard of such a thing.

But...

Then I remembered all the times I witnessed it the last time we were there. :sad2:

... there you go.

I think on this trip it only happened the three times I wrote about.

A little ticked? I think I'd be about nuclear at that point.

atomic_bomb-gif.145977

I might've been, if it hadn't happened so fast!
It was more of a "Huh? Oh... Oh!... D'oh!" moment.

I was more annoyed later, after it sank in a bit.

Maybe it's true what they say about Canadians. ::yes::

That we get taken by surprise a lot?
Could be.

:rolleyes1

Thanks!

That makes me crazy. Why do people just think they should be able to stand where you're standing? Ever hear of personal space??

Well, to be honest, I don't think they realized what they were doing.
But... they should.
Ya throw a kid on your shoulder,
there's a good chance the person behind you might be miffed!

4:30, Both, No issues, Security, Ruby.

Noted.
And... I'm not sure if you're saying we sleep in or not.
We had to be at the lobby to check out at 2:45am.
Feel free to change your guess if you wish.

I'm rather full of myself, am I not?

I can think of worse things to be full of...

We had been sitting there for about an hour.
It was probably the most peaceful part of the whole trip!

This makes my heart unbelievably happy.

Go ahead! Tell me you can't believe it either!
I'll even give you bonus points for it.

I can't believe it!! No less than I can't believe *I* haven't tried one yet!!

How well do you play that thing??

Perfect timing.

Of course it was.

The last few fireworks crackled overhead
and we knew our vacation was over.

:sniff sniff: This makes me incredibly SAD!

We didn't go back.

This makes me even sadder. You know if I was going soon, I'd snag you one in a flash. In fact, that reminds me, I make it a tradition to put the call out for stuff I can pick up for posters on my thread, or anyone, in fact, of need of goods. I picked up some schtufffs for a few folks last time, and I was fun to mail them off and make someone happy!

Kay would rather leave it, sleep in,
and ask me in the morning to pack for her.

Sounds pretty standard to me.

1. What time do we get up?

2:10

2. Do we sleep on the plane?
Me? Kay? Both? Neither?

Kay dozes, you are used to nights, so you don't. Knowing you, you probably started your 1st Chapter for this.

3. Do we have issues at customs?

Yes. You've been put on a list by then.

4. Which takes longer in Toronto (our connection.)
Security? Or customs?

Customs.

5. Which came first. Our bags or Ruby to pick us up?

Ruby.

I can think of worse things to be full of...

That sounds vaguely... naughty.

This makes my heart unbelievably happy.

:goodvibes

I can't believe it!! No less than I can't believe *I* haven't tried one yet!!

I can't believe it!

Wait... Didn't I just say that to cinderkelly?

How well do you play that thing??

Not well.
I can tune a piano but I can't tuna fish.... churro, I mean.

:sniff sniff: This makes me incredibly SAD!

Me too!
I wanna go back!

This makes me even sadder. You know if I was going soon, I'd snag you one in a flash. That's nice of you! :)

cinderkelly is going in June and said she'd get it for me.
But if she can't, I'll keep you in mind!

(Then again, I always do.)

Sounds pretty standard to me.

Yep. Parenting woes 101.

Nevermind. Already am.

Yes. Yes you should! ::yes::

 I still wouldn't have let him pass...
but then it would've been awkward until we got on the ride.

And it would really suck if eventually we saw a huge family with little kids
"Bill! Where were you! We've been waiting for half an hour! The kids were crying!"

:rotfl:

Why did I whip it out?
Seriously?
You ask me that? You?

Why, I whip it out because I'm thinking of you, of course.

tumblr_n1iw01mlWC1tu3y05o1_500.gif

... you didn't disappoint!

One day I will be banned from the DIS :rolleyes1

I know.
Is there no one on the planet with any sense anymore???

No :sad2:

But if you're feeling hungry, you might want to try Vern's.
(7 locations in Central Canada. One in Winnipeg.)
They take a pizza and pile it higher than any other that I've seen.

Yikes. That's a lot of meat. Of a sort that doesn't belong on a pizza, imnsho. (Yes, I am a pizza snob!) Granted, I'm also not a big fan of Lou Malnati's, which is famous for basically having a solid slab of sausage as one of the layers. (Favorite Chicago Style pizza - Pizzeria Uno or Due, the originals, not the chain. Favorite stuffed pizza: Edwardo's, especially spinach. Favorite everyday can get in the far north suburbs pizza: Rosati's. Favorite by-the-slice-in-the-mall pizza: Sbarro, esp spinach and mushroom)

The question was obvious... not the answer!

Lol, I figured out that part!

Now some of you concluded that if we were going to MK
we would have taken the monorail.

If I had been thinking, I would've realized that. Put it down to never using hoppers.

Wait... Oh, for the love of Pete!
This is the single rider line!
There's no "joining" people.
There shouldn't be any people to join!

D'oh!

Really, the VIP weather package is a must.

Yup.

So you get points if you said we were lucky,

And you were.

Churro.

Go ahead! Tell me you can't believe it either!
I'll even give you bonus points for it.

Strangely, I can't believe it either, but I really don't associate churro with Disney. I think I had my first at Taste of Chicago as a kid?

The waitress came and took our orders
and I asked (on the oh-so-shy Kay's behalf)
for Lady and the Tramp's paw prints on a napkin.
She said she'd see what she could do.

I should've remembered from your solo trip...

"Dad!" Kay suddenly blurts out. "We forgot my paw prints!"

Oh... shoot!

Oh, no. My dd would've made me go back. She made me go back to CPK (ironically, already mentioned in this TR) when we forgot her Pokemon Worlds insulated acrylic souvenir water cup from her swag bag. But we were only a few minutes away at that point. They had cleared our table, but were able to rescue it from the dishroom, thankfully.

Last time I waited 22 minutes.
How long will it be this time?
Longer? Shorter? :confused3

I have to guess shorter, because otherwise it's over my guess for the total!

Bonus questions, round 11!
(Final round! Make 'em count!)

1. What time do we get up?

2. Do we sleep on the plane?
Me? Kay? Both? Neither?

3. Do we have issues at customs?

4. Which takes longer in Toronto (our connection.)
Security? Or customs?

5. Which came first. Our bags or Ruby to pick us up?

Good luck!
1. 2 am so Kay can pack
2. Kay - yes, You - no
3. No
4. Security
5. Ruby

Good luck to everyone who is actually in contention for winning!

I still can't believe the luck you have had with the buses and the weather! Seriously. Can I go with you next time? We never have that kind of luck!

I can't believe you have never had a churro. Except, I can. Because I have never had one either. It doesn't contain chocolate, so it isn't exactly on the top of my must have snack list!

I don't know that I would have thought about taking the boat from Epcot to HS either. I guess I like the scenic route too?

The Castle and Wishes are a must to end a trip. There is no better way to say goodbye. I actually held a sleeping 2 year old in the pouring rain to see it as the last thing one trip. No the smartest, but it worked!

Thanks for the bonus point to help my score. Though, I don't think I'll be winning at this point! :)

And for my guesses:
1. 2am
2. Kay sleeps on you during the flight. You stay up to keep watch, obviously.
3. No problems. You have enough Customs scares this trip.
4. Security takes longer.
5. Ruby will make it there first.

Don't know the chef... but he must like meat!

Oh, I thought the pizza was made by the female chef you mentioned.

That we get taken by surprise a lot?
Could be.

That you're nice, of course. :-)

And... I'm not sure if you're saying we sleep in or not.
We had to be at the lobby to check out at 2:45am.
Feel free to change your guess if you wish.

Reading comprehension FAIL on my part. 2:15?

Here's a pic I found on Google.
(And no. It's not for the meek. Or if you have a heart condition.)

I don't know what that is, but it's definitely not pizza.

"Wait! Wait! You said the park you were going to was obvious!
You took the bus and not the boat or monorail!
So AK was the obvious choice."

I HATE that I fell for this. (But I'm still not annoyed). You did it all on purpose just to trick your readers. Everything that goes wrong with your trip from this moment on is a direct consequence of this. Karma!!!!!

The question was obvious... not the answer!
We're at the bus stop going somewhere,
so the obvious question to ask is "Where are we going?"

See? It's obvious now isn't it?

Did the front of the bus say "Hollywood Studios" or "Why do I exist?".... It just seems crazy that with all their budget cuts they would keep running something that seems entirely redundant.

And some of you further concluded that if we were going to DHS
we would've taken the boat, instead of making our way
all the way back to the bus stop.

This is where this guy I posted earlier was supposed to go....

Also note that if you hadn't backtracked all the way to the front of the park but just walked to the studios, you would have had time for at least two extra rides on Rock n rollercoaster. You chose a bus over a roller coaster. :crazy2:

I'm rather full of myself, am I not?

And then it happened.
I'm still a little annoyed by it.

Karma!!!

My natural reaction... heck, my instincts took over
and without even looking, I immediately stepped to the side.
Not one, not two, but three young teens zipped by us.

Those were just the Line Inspectors. It's their job to monitor and patrol the line at all times to make sure it's functioning the way it's supposed to. Don't worry, they weren't getting on the ride, they were just walking up and down to make sure there were no problems. They really do have a difficult job, being hated so much.

I'm still annoyed.

Karma

The words were no sooner out of his mouth
when I replied: "Don't worry. They'll wait for you."
And with that, I turned my back on him,
effectively blocking his way.

:rotfl: That poor line inspector was fired because of you!

Phew!

Stood my ground and didn't get beat up!
Win win!

You're actually pretty lucky! I've witnessed fights in line for BTM.

I whipped out my....

I see nobody has done the obvious picture switch....

I whipped out my VIP bus package contract,
but unfortunately, it just guarantees a bus
will always be there within a minute or so.
It does not guarantee a seat.
Maybe that's extra.

Why did you cheap out on this? Didn't you think of Kay's poor feet???

There was one family who arrived
who'd obviously hit the theme park wall.

I didn't know we were there at the same time!

So you get points if you said we were lucky,
but none if you just said it rained.
Judge's decisions are final.

Of course I thought you were asking if it rained, and it did.
I apologize profusely for doubting your luck. I promise I'll never again question your ability to get lucky.

"Tea cups?"
No.
"Buzz?"
No.
"Peter Pan?"
No.
"Jungle Cruise?"
No.
"Haunted Mansion?"
There ya go!
So I let her out.

Oh, don't worry, she's used to it.

LOVE that picture comparison.... Adorable.

Go ahead! Tell me you can't believe it either!
I'll even give you bonus points for it.

I can't believe it!!!!

But I'll be brutally honest.
Is it as good as a beaver tail?

Can you believe I'm Canadian and I've never had a beaver tail??? Say you can't believe it.

Now I know Tony's doesn't get a lot of love,

Yeah, there's a reason for that....

I like to have the same thing that Lady & The Tramp had.
It just makes me happy.

(just kidding, I couldn't resist that... your meal looked at least somewhat fit for human consumption)

She was standing there, rapt the whole time.
Well, unfortunately that's not quite accurate.
Every once in a while,
a tall man would come and stand in front of us.
We'd move a bit... okay we can see.
He'd move.
We'd move some more.
He'd move again.
"Dad. We had a great spot, now I can't even see most of the castle."

But didn't you say you were against a railing? How did people get in front of you?

It must be very restful, not having to think of others.

So badly want to comment but shouldn't .... can't resist.... YES IT IS!!!!!!

I loved every second of it.
(Minus the brief interruptions.)

Awesome! Great way to end the trip.

The last few fireworks crackled overhead
and we knew our vacation was over.

:sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad:

Do this.
Scroll back up to the picture of the table at Tony's with the desserts.
Do you see the envelope with the birthday card?
Give up?
You can just see a bit of it in the top left corner of the picture.
Notice how it blends right into the tablecloth?
Yeah.

I still couldn't find it even with that.

We didn't go back.
I wish we had.
She's still a little sad about it.

Awwww

If anyone's going to the World in the next little bit,
would it be too much to ask one of you to pick
up a napkin from Tony's with Lady & The Tramp's
paw prints on it?
I'd be more than happy to pay for the postage.

Well you've had about 20 offers but if everyone else bails on you I might be there in September. Are you keeping a list?

This was just the icing on the cruelty cake!
We had to wait forever for the bus to come.

Karma (am I annoying yet?)
By the way, what's cruelty cake? I've never had it, it sounds delicious.

It finally arrived at 10:27pm.
Three minutes! Unbelievable!
Disney was definitely losing its luster.

You should ask for your money back.

I'd rather stay up a few minutes and pack
and sleep a little later in the morning.

Of course. I wouldn't even be able to fall asleep at all if I knew my suitcase wasn't packed.

Last time I waited 22 minutes.
How long will it be this time?
Longer? Shorter? :confused3

Squishley - 38 (-25 pts)
Saturn23 - 39 (-25 pts)
Gracefulskinny - 40 (-15 pts)
jandlinz - 41 (-25 pts)

Well I hope it's either one minute or that the bus is already there when you get there. I guess theoretically that could happen if you sleep in and have to run for it. Improbable but not impossible. It's more likely you'll wait 4 minutes since that seems to be the longest you've waited all trip. YAY Congrats to @GoofyIsAsGoofyDoes !!!

Susan R - 600

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Susan won? Your bus actually leaves the NEXT day and you spend the whole day sitting there.. just to throw us all off on guesses. Susan R was actually you posting under a fake account. The amount of effort you put into this is impressive!

So you're saying I'm full of crap.

Very astute of you, of course.

And yet another of my middle names. (It's a very long list.)

And before you use it, I'll beat you to the punchline. I was referring to "Astute" not crap.
