I knew you'd be thrilled.
I pretty much posted that
just for you.
I didn't even know what a cowling was.

Cow and cowling.
How can you NOT like calzones???
No. Not a calzone.
A calzone is a folded pizza.
Oven baked.
This was deep fried, I believe.
Although -- while I was in France, DW and I did a tour of Versailles and we stopped at a brasserie close by (obvious tourist trap in retrospect) and the outside eating area was mostly full and the pizzas looked pretty good, so we decided to stop and eat before catching the train back into Paris. DW got a margherita pizza and I opted for the calzone. I THOUGHT it said ham and beef --- but upon cutting into it, I actually got a ham and egg. Apparently the menu said oeuf and not boeuf as I had thought.

Oh, for the loss of a "B".
So back to your story -- I have enjoyed every calzone I've ever had until that one. Runny egg inside a calzone is just not a good thing for dinner. Especially when you're expecting ground or sliced beef.
No... I can see that!
