pkondz wobbles but he don't fall down...
A rather dark Monday morning.
2:15am to be precise.
Eaaarrrrly.
I was dressed, packed,
locked and loaded
and out of the house by 3:30am.
Only people on the road at that
time were fools and idiots.
I'll let you guess which one I was.
Stayin' awake, stayin' awake
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' awake, stayin' awake
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake!!!
"How long will you be in the US?"
I told him that too...
And... I'm not 100% sure, really.
I think I know when I'm coming back,
but it's a road trip....
Maybe I'll stay an extra day somewhere?
"Are you constipated? You look like you're constipated."
Dang it!!! That's not the look I was going for!!!!
I cross into North Dakota.
The flattest land on Earth.
Hour five
I arrive at my first destination.
Viking Land Harley Davidson
in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
I wander around a bit,
checking out the bikes
and the shirts.
Hour eleven
Driving.
Exciting TR so far, huh?
Hour fourteen
Guess what!!!!
More driving.
I make it to the front door
of House of Harley Davidson
at one minute to the hour.
and... Yes! Still open.
Although it's obvious
they're getting ready to close.
I snag my last poker chip
of the day and leave so they
can close up.
My haul for the day:
Hour sixteen
Okay. Now eat!
I settled in, perused the menu
and ordered... well... I don't know.
Hour seventeen
I arrive at Country Inn & Suites,
Milwaukee Airport and check in.
Total elapsed time:
Seventeen hours.
Total distance: 900 miles.
Not one, but two locks
on the garbage chute.
Plus a latch.
These people take their
trash very seriously, people
And... just out of curiosity...
(for anyone (anyone?) still reading)
Did you see it?
That's crazy early to get up, but based on your itinerary I understand now why you did it!
You didn't pack in advance?![]()
I'll go with idiot!
This one took me a while to work this one out....![]()
And how would this guy know?
I still don't understand this.
I have not had misfo...er pleasure to experience this.
Based on my math, it's 8:30AM, they're open that early?
Riveting.
I don't know how you're able to do this. You haven't even eaten anything!
So you're that guy now.
Not bad at all.
Finally! I would have passed out in a hypo glycemic fit.
You don't get TRs better than this!![]()
I don't think I've done more than 500 miles and i wasnt driving the whole way either.
I wouldn't have if someone hadn't posted it. I've only been able to post from my phone for the past week and would never have seen it without a clue.
I studied about 4 craptons this weekend.
I had forgotten to do that. I'll try and get one posted as well...if I remember!
Never underestimate what people will do in order to avoid doing math.
Oh, great. Is this one of them touchy-feely TR's?
Is this a kissing book?
![]()
You too???
That only appears to happen
Best hot dog I ever had...
Was at the grungiest place
I'd ever eaten at.
I guess it does?
I've only been in one once.
You didn't pack in advance?![]()
Oh, I did. But last minute things,
like toothbrush, etc.
Plus loading it in the car.
All that stuff.
First a New York Cheesecake in the IP for tomorrow.
Then I best get some weekend studying done.
This time, I'll add the cherries that I'd meant to put on my first one.
And to make you drool, I'll post a photo.... (on my TR).
Here, I will for you.
Open a bag of graham crackers. Open a tub of chocolate frosting. Spread the frosting on the cracker and enjoy. Repeat until bag is gone. Prep time: 10 seconds. Serves 1.
Really?
(I have no idea what that is even referencing even though I read it literally 2 minutes ago. I need a vacation.)
Kinda like my Navajo Taco on the Res.
The food is.... okay. Edible at best.
Oh. That stuff. Yeah, forgot my toothpaste last time.![]()
Heh, at least it wasn't my underwear... I mean, who would DO that?
Oh, I did. But last minute things,
like toothbrush, etc.
Plus loading it in the car.
All that stuff.
You chose... wisely.
It did? You?
Thought you'd have that
in a heartbeat.
When you leave the country
you are asked how long
you will be gone for.
When you come back
they know exactly how
long you've been gone.
They always ask
"How long have you been gone."
It's a litmus test.
I'm not sure, but...
if you say you're going to be gone
for x days.
And you're gone for X +/- N days...
I don't know if that would raise
a red flag or not.
![]()
No, no.
Go with your gut instinct.
Misfortune.
A few minutes at the border...
A few minutes getting gas...
A few minutes finding the store...
It opens at 9:00.
I timed it pretty much perfectly.
I don't remember the exact time
I got there, but it wasn't long
after 9:00am.
You'd pay good money
for this, wouldn't you.
Not a question.
I sometimes go with only one
meal during the day.
I might've been a bit hungry.
See above comment
about paying good money.
Here's my secret.
I like driving.
I like seeing the country.
I like the quiet.
I like the solitude.
I like the time to think.
I like the time to dream.
And that's okay. Not a contest!![]()
See I keep a whole separate set of toiletries in a dresser in the Guest room so that I can pack it for trips.
And then I make sure to pack it in the car before I go to bed the night before the trip.
I try to block out the disco phase of my childhood.
I suppose they scan your passport and they can enter your dates into a computer since now they fit in your pocket.
I did drive through parts of Montana once and thought that was quite nice, but never went as far as the Dakotas.
OK so even your hour calculations aren't accurate. Gotcha.
This is not the TR you're looking for....
But you should have it midway through the day, not before you go to sleep!!!!
Well yeah, you didn't eat all day!
Jedi mind tricks.
But we listen to audio books and that keeps my mind occupied so I don't do either of these things.
Kinda takes the sport out of it when you read it in the comments, but since i STILL have not had a chance to DIS from my computer, I doubt I would have found it.
First time to comment on your driving report but I have to say couldn't you have made a PB&J sandwich and eaten it on the run???? Huh? Isn't that the normal meals for travellers? This time it was out of necessity.
Don't think I did that again
the rest of the trip.

I too had to go back and look for the hidden item. I wouldn't have found it unless I read somebody else's comment about it.
I hope that your driving the rest of your trip wasn't so long.
Happy Easter to you and your family.
Just think it is almost time for the Long Beach Grand Prix.
Yes you should be like him and make sandwiches to keep up your strength. Oh wait they probably wouldn't have let you bring them across the border.What... do I look like @Captain_Oblivious ?
Who can think of stuff like that
at three o'clock in the morning??
I had decided that if I got hungry,
I could always grab something.
But I was fine...
until it got too close to dinner time.
I know didn't you really feel for Robert Wickens? He tried so hard and look what happened. Hopefully his time will come this year. Don't know if you have a cell phone that you can get data on in the US but James Hinchcilffe runs a contest on twitter and posts clues that you have to look for at the track and if you find the secret stash you win a prize. What did you think of
the last race?
Very mixed feelings
on how it ended.

That I don't do.
I could do that,
but no real need.
Typically only have
one or two bags.
Yep. You're tracked in and out.
South Dakota has the Badlands
which (if memory serves)
are pretty cool.
North Dakota?
Not so much.
They're pretty close,
but more of a rough
estimate.
This time it was out of necessity.
Don't think I did that again
the rest of the trip.
Who, me?
Huh!
This is not the TR I'm looking for...
I do that too.
Depends on my mood.
That's how I got introduced
to Jefferey Deaver
You weren't gonna find that one
on your phone.
Why not?![]()
Well yeah, same for me, but I travel with Fran which necessitates a million more bags.
It's been a long time since I've been in and out of the country other than a cruise. I bet it's changed a lot. It may have been pre 9-11 since I was a Canadian Rep.
Huh, did not know that.
I'll rememeber that.
I dunno, I would have at least picked up a Wendy's or Jack In the Box $1 chicken sandwich just so I didn't go into hypoglycemic shock.
Probably not. But I'm actually doing this reply from my computer, but I'm going to go to bed after this so everyone else has to wait. I don't know how many days cause tomorrow is pretty much crossed off too with getting the new property on board.

You don't want PB&J. The whole point is to actually enjoy the trip.
"Do you have any fresh fruits or vegetables to declare?"
"Nope, nothing."
"How about any PB&J sandwiches?"
"Dang it!"
Based on your TR so far, it seems there may be hijinks, shenanigans, and tomfoolery ahead.
Therefore, I am joining in!
