But (apparently)Not too much at all, you are a good conversationalist!!
not a minimalist!
And thanks for the very
nice compliment, Kathy.

And it's also very good quality. If we happen to run out of syrup before my parents come back through we have found that the cheapest syrup to be found is at Costco.

I'm sorry.... WHERE???????I get mine at BJ's since I have a membership there.
I think that's the polite way of saying you talk too much.
Kinda like bless his heart.

Well, yeah.
If it'd been driven,
they wouldn't have gotten
the ticket.
(Speeding was not an option.)
It's similar to Sam's club or cosco.I'm sorry.... WHERE???????
Actually, *I* had forgotten.
Shush you, or no more
treats from the North!
(Thought I'd forgotten
the Kinder Eggs, didn't you.)
I'm going to interrupt
this TR for just a little bit
to tell you about an
annual festival
that occurs every
February in my home town
over ten days.
The Festival has several events
or attractions, such as snow sculpting:
She was going to go for
a dogsled run!
Traditionally, sugar shacks
are where maple products
are made.
Did you see it in this chapter?
I hope not, because I didn't
put one in.

(As is their olive oil, actually.)
It was a hit! We loved it and wished we had room for more! Of course, I'm sure it was not what you would say is traditional, but we didn't know the difference LOL.. I wasn't sure what "Savory" was, but I had a savory tasting spice mix from Costco, so I used that along with the other spices. I was surprised how that mix of flavors (flavours) tasted! I have since googled the Tartiere, and I see it can be alot of different things, so I guess I'm okay. I would Mash the Sweet potatoes next time.Curious to see how that
combination worked out!
The Festival du Voyageur
has taken place every February
since 1970.
It's a celebration of the French
culture in Canada as well as
a nod to the early pioneers.
(Specifically, the Voyageurs,
French Canadian canoeists
who transported furs during the
North American fur trading era.
(Early 1800s.))
And no French Canadian
festival would be complete
without Beaver Tails.
(Flat pastry with cinnamon
and sugar. mmmmm...)
Those look all nostalgic and authentic, but I'm not sure I'd have wanted to live in one when it's -30 out. Ain't NO fire gonna warm that thing up.
In the late 1970s,
a few cabins were
built for the Festival,
which eventually morphed
into the recreation
of the original Fort Gibraltar
that existed nearby
in the early 1800s.
As you can see,
she had fun.
It was only about
a 7-8 minute run,
but I think it was
money well spent.![]()
You then place a stick on
one end of the syrup
and wait about 30 seconds.
True that be!!!
It's similar to Sam's club or cosco.
Do a web Search for bjs wholesale club. Pretty sure it's bjswholesale.com.
Actually, *I* had forgotten.
I have some treats in store for you and Elle also, so rather not start a battle either way. I'll shush. Yeah right, like that's gona happen.
,
I always love your asides because I learn so much!
The festival looks like so much fun but I'm not sure how much I could handle. My thin southern blood would be frozen solid in 5 seconds flat.![]()
Wow! They are all so impressive!
I want to do this! Can I pay extra to just pet the dogs too?![]()
Yum! I love maple candy. When I lived up in PA we used to go to the Pennsylvania Maple Festival in Meyersdale PA.
Whew! I definitely didn't see anything and thought I would be going back through again to find what I missed!
Huh!Agree 100% My dad said it is cheaper at Costco then what he pays and he buys it straight from the supplier.
It was a hit! We loved it and wished we had room for more!

Thanks for the little detour. Wonderful living history festival you have!
We have a permanent settlement recreation set up on the coast in Astoria where Lewis and Clark wintered during their journey. Super interesting to visit with some of the same elements. Not snow sculptures though. Or dog sled rides.
I love the addition of the lights!
Those sound amazing! Kinda like an Elephant Ear I'd imagine.

COOL!! and cool shot.![]()
I love this one. They look like Disney animatronics. LOL. I'll bet if you sent this to the Imagineering Dept, they'd take it under consideration for the SE refurb.
Love this shot!
YAY!!!
Reminds me, as others have said, of the Little House on the Prairie books.
Well I'm still playing catch up!
I'm going to guess that you visited this festival at night and not that you have several months of darkness in your neck if the woods.
I'll probably never experience maple syrup rolled up in the snow. Even if I went somewhere in California where it snowed, I'm sure there would be health regulations against serving it in public.
I am definitely intrigued by these beaver tails that you speak of.
And how fun to do a dog sled run!
