I have never been to Disney world. We are hoping to go Feb 18 to 23/08 if we get all of our ducks in a row.We have 2 daughters 9 and 6 and it will be their first trip as well.I have been doing as much reading as i can and noticed you can buy points from Vacation rental owner , is this safe to do?Should i stay with our travel agency, although it seems we will be paying more?

Welcome to the Dis!!! :cool1:

JMO - if money is no object - I would just stick with your travel agent - you don't want to risk anything when it comes to the Perfect Disney Vacation. :wizard:

Come on over and visit us friendly folks on the Canadian board! :welcome:

:cool1: Welcome! :cool1:
We're going next May and it'll be our kids first trip also, can't wait:banana:

First off WELCOME from a fellow Bluenoser.... come on over to the Canadian Forum too!

We just did our first trip in September. We booked everything ourselves, from the room to the airplane, ourselves. I learned so much from these forums, probably twice as much as any of the Disney books I bought, that I felt like I knew exactly what I was doing.

We had a blast! We flew out of Portland (saved $1500 by NOT flying out of Halifax) and our rental car on their web sites and booked our room at Pop Century with one base park ticket each over the phone and then upgraded all our tickets once we'd gotten there and we had a better idea what we were doing. The CM's at the Disney reservation numbers will help you out lots too.

IMO unless you have special needs or have never traveled I don't know what a travel agent could do for you that you couldn't arrange yourself.

My best advice is to stay up late every night reading these forums and doing searches on it for you answers to even the smallest questions. Worked for us!

I agree! Plan yourself. Ditch the travel agent.

BTW, we're from NS too but we live in NB now. Welcome!

We have been there 4 times now and planning another trip the end of January :cool1: ...My bf (Jayrock) found out everything he needed to know from these forums. Everything was planned before we got there. Like the OP said the Disney people can answer all your questions and by doing it yourself you will save some money.

From my sig, you'll notice we went twice in 2007.

We booked through Mousesavers and received great service....my wife and I would go back again in a heartbeat........the kids (12 and 13) would like to go somewhere else next time

Hi from another fellow bluenoser! We went on our first trip in October and planned everything for ourselves based on what I learned on this board! I have a friend who's a travel agent and she admitted that there was very little that she could do that you couldn't do yourself.
