I'd like to try Yachtsmen instead of LeCellier for our next trip. However, I don't want to go back to the resort to change clothes after spending the day at Epcot. Would shorts and tshirts be proper attire or should I book LeCellier instead?

Not sure about the dress code there, but you could just wear something a little bit nice in the parks that day - practical but not Mickey shirts/tank tops. That's been our strategy in the past.

Mind, this general time of year, you might find you need a trip back to the room before evening. It gets cold at night, but warm in the afternoon many days. Conversely, in the summer you might feel very sweaty and want a shower to cool down before dinner. That happened to us in September even. And then there are the rainy days....

I've seen people wearing park clothing waiting for their ADRs for Yachtsman. I don't think the dress codes (unless the clothing is torn or people are wearing something clearly unsuitable, like bathing suits) are really enforced much these days.

We gone in shorts and polos. I think the only thing that's frowned upon is maybe the bathing suits and sleeveless tanks. I've noticed that it's more casual for lunch than dinner time.

just wear a nicer shirt, a polo for guys would be great and a nicer top and nicer shorts. You will find the full range here, all the way up to dresses for the ladies.

YS is what they call "business casual". At WDW, this means collars on shirts for men, no cut-off shorts, ripped/torn clothing, and no hats at the table.
No tank tops for guys, I believe women's sleeveless tops are ok. I think flip-flops are also on the list of no-no's, but it's probably different for women.

They don't enforce the policy with much consistency, but if you'd like to feel you are appropriately dressed these are good guidelines to follow.:earsboy:

As long as you don't wear tank tops and swimwear..you are good to go.

We booked at the last minute for Flying Fish one night. We were standing out front and wanted to get a great meal before heading back to the resort. FF was opening in approx 20 minutes. We called, got a reservation, then the girl went into the dress code. I said, ok, forget it, cancel that, we are coming from EPCOT and are in park attire. She said, oh, that is no problem, just go and enjoy. We learned from then on, park attire is fine.

This is something DL has learned long ago. I don't know why WDW keeps pushing this whole dress code thing, because it is suggested, not required and we no longer pack extra close for signature meals.

We even overheard the hostess at AP one time when a couple asked if they could dine in their shorts, say yes, of course you can, we don't know why disney dining keeps saying otherwise, lol.

These days with flight restrictions and baggage charges you think WDW would just be happy someone was actually eating in their restaurants so they can keep people employed.

The dress code allows t-shirts, as long as they are not offensive, and fliip flops are fine too, as long as they are not paired with a bathing suit.

That said, you will not generally see that casual attire at Yachtsman. Is it allowed? Yes. Do most diners dress like that? No. Most men will be in polo shirts with either slacks or dress shorts.

Yachtsman is much better than Le Cellier and I would not want your experience ruined because you felt out of place.

casual....no bathing suit or tank top. plus make sure your wearing shoes.

I sat beside a couple of fools wearing sweatpants, but I couldn't wear my **** hat. So, yes they enforce the dress code, but not like they should.

Look, if I cant wear my hat, that is one thing, but don't put me beside someone wearing sweatpants because that just ******* me off !!!!!

Sir, men do not wear hats to the dinner table.

Actually no hats on gentlemen is part of the "not permitted" dress code. Sweat pants are not prohibited.
If you will carefully note, Disney words this as dress code GUIDELINES. A list of what they would LIKE you to wear, followed by a statement about T-shirts and then a very short list of what is truly NOT PERMITTED in the restaurant.

My experience is that about 3/4 of the patrons wear something that is suggested (with the term "dress shorts" being given a VERY broad definition.)The other 25% don't.
My experience also suggests you'll see far more t-shirts and shorts than you will jackets and dresses.

I agree with Pakey. You will be allowed in with Park Clothes, but I do not know if you will be comfortable among the other diners. It is a signature restaurant and an upscale experience. The restaurant is beautiful, and more formal than Le Cellier. I share Uncleromulus' experience, the majority of diners will be more dressed up.
When we went I wore dress pants and a nice blouse. DH and DS wore dress shorts and polo shirts.
Have a nice dinner, whatever you decide.

I think there is a difference in what you are allowed to wear and what your will be comfortable in. Like most people have said you are allowed to wear just about anything but swimwear, ripped clothing, hats, tank tops on men and shirts with obscene wording images etc.

That being said, I personally would feel VERY uncomfotable in any signature restaurant in shorts and a t-shirts. I always wear dress pants and a polo but that is what I am comfortable in. Obviously, there are a lot of people that don't really care what they wear so it is basically up to you.

B.

I always feel VERY comfortable in shorts and a tshirt in any Disney restaurant. We generally eat at the signature restaurants each night, too.

As for the hats, they had my niece remove hers in Spring but I don't remember which restaurant. I think it was at California Grill.

that is not fair. Everyone has their own choice to make and it is not fair to criticize a choice that is different than yours

It would be like me saying I can't believe that people wear polo shirts to restaurants, only button down shirts should be allowed :sad2:

with that said, please feel free to share your thoughts in a non-judgmental way

thanks!!

We have been to Yachtsman in formal attire and park clothes. You tend to be a little of place just wearing a t-shirt, but it wasn't an issue with being allowed in. I think that I would avoid wearing tank tops, shorts, flip-flops, torn clothes, etc, but most other clothing is fine.
