We always did this at WDW with the old paper FPs. Can you still do that at DL?

Disneyland is checking the time on FP's and will not let you in after the time on your FP has past. It is my understanding that it has been this way since Summer 2013.

Nope not anymore. They starting implementing strict return times over a year ago. The only exception is if a ride breaks down during your return time, then they will often let you use your fastpass whenever you want.

We were there this past Monday and some cast members were enforcing the end time and some were not. We got turned away from Indiana Jones so we went back later when there was another cast member and got on no problem. We also used a BTMR fp's after the window without issue. I wasn't aware until after our trip that they are enforcing the end time b/c we haven't been there in a couple years. Now, that I know we will adjust our use of FP's for future trips but if you happen to have a FP that you couldn't use during the window you can try to use it anyway because it doesn't seem to be consistently enforced as of now.

You are also given a 15 minute window after the end time.
Some say it depends on the Cast Member, but I have never had an issue if I was within that 15 minute time.

I wouldn't count on it past the 15 minute window. Most seem to enforce the time window.

The official policy is that time windows are strictly enforced. I've haven't read about many folks being successful able to use them early (even just a few minutes), but it's more common to hear about the 15 minute grace period or even far beyond the window. The short answer about using them later is "maybe" but don't count on it.

I would do everything possible to get there during the one hour time window, but if you are running a few minutes late, it doesn't hurt to try. I think you stand a pretty good chance of getting in if you're less than 5 minutes late because everyone's watch runs a little differently (even the clocks on Main Street and the Castle aren't always in sync!). However, I do think it's up to the CM at the FP entrance and it probably depends on whether they stick to the rules, how busy the FP line already is, etc. You can't count on there being a grace period, but it doesn't really hurt to ask either (especially if you're only a few minutes late).

We found end times were enforced. The one exception my dh ran into was they were in line for Space when it broke down and that made them late for their Autopia FP. They told the CM they had been in the space line, about to load, when it went down so they waited. The CM said no problem and let them in the FP line for Autopia. It was some nice pixie dust, and I wouldn't count on that always being the case, but if you have a legit reason for being late you can always ask!
