can you use a child's AP to get the AP rate?

I believe the adult making the reservation is the one who has to have the pass. You don't need it at the time you make the reservation, but you'll need to present one adult pass in the name of the person who reserves the room at check in.

So if you're waiting to make the discount res, don't. But it's all no good unless you present the pass at check in. Just buy it when you arrive.

A friend of mine just mentioned the other day that she made reservations and got an AP rate. The cm told her that she could use a childs AP to get the rate. Good luck!

I just posted a message above but I forgot to mention that when we went last Easter, we got an AP rate. I thought I had to buy an adult AP so I bought one adult pass before we left home. They never even asked us to show it when we checked in.

Yes, a child's Ap is fine.

I would definitely definitely proceed cautiously with this assumption. Although it would be SUPER if it is true, what if when you check in with the child's AP, the CM says where's the AP for the person paying for the room?!?

Again, I'd love to believe it's true -- but cost of being wrong makes me nervous (we are not AP holders, so I'd only be getting 1 AP for the AP discount, plus I'd cancel BDP reservation and change to AP, assuming it's available when they extend dates).

If you call CRO, you will be told that the only Disney official policy that is in effect is that a member of the party staying in the room have a current AP, they have never stated the age of the AP holder, although this may change in the future... But even if it did, you would be Granfathered in......... If you are uncomfortable about it, call for yourself and simply document the date time and cast member that you spoke to. I had these very questions myself last year and through calling got the true "lowdown"....

Yes you can. I did it on this past trip in October using my DD's child AP. The CM at time of booking said it was fine and that the discounts in the sleeves that you get the AP in are for both child and adult. I han no problem doing this.
