Can you upgrade your DP when you check-in?

Hi all,

Am hoping someone will be able to help me out on this one.... we are a family of 5, arriving from the UK and are staying at POR in August 2011. We have booked a package deal with a UK travel company and have free QS dining. We can upgrade to DP with them but at an extortionate cost - was wondering if we can upgrade when we check in and just pay $$$$ (I belive it is a difference of $10 pp but again, if anyone can give me more definitive info I would really appreciate it).

Looking forward to hearing from someone as we have all of our dining choices ready to book and if we can get DP rather that QS I will book a few more...

Many thanks :thumbsup2

Don't really understand about the cost being different, but I do know that changes to DDP need to be made at least 3 days (72 hours) before you check in.

ETA - also confused as to why you have QSDP for free. Doesn't Free Dining at a moderate resort come with regular DP? Or is it different for those in the UK?

You have four Age 10+ and one Age 3-9. How many nights are you staying? How much money are they wanting to charge. Divide the total amount by the number of nights to get the per-day price. Then let us know and we can tell you if the prices appear reasonable.

And normally an upgrade to a Dining Plan must be done no later than 72 hours before check-in.

Many thanks for your assistance.

Because we have booked with a UK tour company we do not necessarily get the same as the US offers and therefore a moderate resort gets the QS dining plan and the deluxe resorts get the standard DP.

We love POR and have stayed there a few times but would have liked to have booked the Beach Club but just could not stretch to additional cost. (UK price was a difference of over £600 per adult!)

We are more than happy to stay at the POR and are really looking forward to our vacation. I should at this point say we are also more than happy to have the QS dining plan as over the years we have found some really nice places to eat and do not mind paying OOP for a few TS meals.

I have though found that there are rather a lot of TS meals that I would book and was therefore wondering if we would be better off paying to upgrade to the DP. Trouble is, the cost in UK is an extra £10 per person (above 10) per night of stay. We are staying for 16 nights so this would end up costing us an extra £640 (approx $992). I was under the impression that the $ cost to upgrade was only $10 pp and was wondering if this was therefore a better way of doing things.

If we were to say go on say 8 to 10 TS meals (we like Chef Mickeys - Breakfast & Dinner, Raglan Road, Coral Reef, Crystal Palace, CG, Park Fare, Cape May, Mama Melrose Fantasmic package) and there are some that we have never tried that we also fancy - Tusker House finding Nemo lunch... my list could go on then it would be worth upgrading if the cost was $640 for our 16 nights....

Have I confused you all yet????? :worship::sad2::confused:

What to do???? Also have the problem that as we have booked with a UK tour operator not sure that Disney will discuss with me??? (Although I do have my disney reservation number :thumbsup2)

ADR's can be made in just a few days so would appreciate your help.....

Thank you.

have you tried calling disney directly? I would try that and see what they say.
