Can you upgrade from value to moderate resort during your vacation?

Here's my situation and question.

I'm heading to AS Sports next week for my anniversary and was thinking of possibly upgrading to a moderate resort for the last two nights of the vacation. I booked my trip through Southwest vacations (free dining) but they're not able to help me really.

My question is, when I get there, can I talk to someone at AS Sports and see if I could upgrade and pay the difference in rates between the value and moderate resort room?

Has anyone ever done this or tried this? It'd be a nice surprise for the wife and I know we'd both enjoy a nicer play to relax over the back end of our vacation.

Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't see why not. WDW is very accomodating. Anytime you want to upgrade as long as it is available they will do that. When you check in I would mention that you are celebrating your anniversary and are interested in upgrading during your stay, you may get a Disney surprise and they may do it at no charge. I have heard of them doing this.

I would really love for you to be able to, but I am not convinced you can. For one thing, initially trying to reserve the Free Dining promotion with a split resort stay didn't work because of having to purchase the base tickets for each hotel stay.

I would love to hear other experts, though. Hope you get your wish and I will throw some pixie dust your way. pixiedust:

Please give us an update when you get back. :goodvibes

Thanks for the advice and the good luck.

I'll just see what they can do when I get there. Even if they could just upgrade for the difference in cost per night I'd consider doing it for the last two nights of the vacation at minimum if it's cheap. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll do me a huge favor, who knows. We're going to have a great anniversary either way. All I know is I want a hot tub after a long day at the park!

(Oh, and good luck to the Sooners this year)

We did something similar last year on free dining. We booked for Pop but upon arriving, my MIL didn't want to stay there. She upgraded all of us to the Caribbean and paid the difference for the entire 10 days. We got to keep our free dining or we wouldn't have upgraded. I don't know if it matters but we didn't spend any nights at Pop - we upgraded within hours of our arrival at Pop.
