Can you 'try' your stateroom before the time they say when you board?

Is it OK go to your stateroom and see if your room is ready even though they tell you it won't be ready for about an hour after you board? It would be nice to be able to drop off our carry on bag.

There will be cast members stationed by all the elevators and they will let you know when you can go to your stateroom. They were very strict on this last Sept. We usually eat lunch at Parrot Cay then go to our cabin.

we had tons of carry-ons....3 large rollling carry-on bags, 3 laptops, 3 backpacks.....all that for only 4 people!!!.....
but even with all of that we managed just fine going straight to parrot cay to eat before going to the room....
as soon as we were finished with lunch we headed for the room (which was soooooooooooooooooo gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......as was the rest of the ship)...

anyway, going for lunch first was very convenient for us despite all the garbage we were dragging with us....also my kids were starved by that point since we'd left WDW at about 9 in the morning and i think we ate breakfast at about 8.....so they were more than ready to eat by the time we got on board the ship....

We were among the first to board and we went straight to our stateroom and were able to drop off our bags. We met our room steward and asked if it was okay and he said "absolutely". Our stateroom was ready so that might have made the difference.

We had a similar experience to Annie. When we arrived in our area, all the doors were wide open. We found our host and asked if it was ok. He said sure, we did our introductions, signed for our CC gifts, and were in! We never had anyone directing us anywhere when we boarded. We just went our own way.

Hi disneyholic family! Long time no see!

Ditto with the last two posters - we went directly to our rooms - put our luggage inside near the verandah door (out of the way of the host/ess and went down to eat.

If they have allowed us to embark, then that room is now MINE for the duration.

We were among the first several families to board on our last cruise and we didn't want to drag our carry-ons up to Topsiders for lunch (we prefer Topsiders over lunch in the restaurants) so we found our room and dropped them off, being careful to stay out of the room steward's way. I don't think they mind if you drop off your carry-ons and leave, but it would probably be harder for them to get their work done if you stayed in the room.

hi CamColt!!!
time to plan a trip i guess...although we can't cruise this year...
chani's going into the army on sunday for her 2 year compulsory service....so no trips for her until she's out....and then gili goes in for his 3 year service....so that's a lot of time away from WDW......i'm already in withdrawal, i don't know what i'll be by then...

gili (he turns 16 tomorrow) and i might go to japan this summer....just the two of us.....just for a week to see tokyo disneyland/disneysea.....
but we won't go to the states without chani and aaron....

as for lunch when boarding...it was nice being the first people into parrot cay....we special ordered our food (dietary restrictions)....the head waiter was spectacularly helpful and since we got there early, the food came quickly....

all i can say is i'm totally jealous of anyone going on a disney cruise.....

We've never had a problem dropping off carry-ons in our room. If the steward is still finishing up, we just leave them on the couch and get out of his/her way. However, after a few cruises, we've finally learned to economize our packing, so we don't have much in the way of carry-ons anymore. Just a backpack each, which is easy enough to tote around until after lunch and the reservations scramble.

We were able to stash our stroller in the closet, even though our room was not done. We boarded very early.
